Sorry OP. There are often times numerous threads of this nature on /lit/ talking about specific fantasy books that go unreplied because people have not read them.

I would recommend instead telling /lit/ how good it is and why it should be read.

I would say your best advice would be to utilize your local universities database because they normally have subscriptions to large databases of periodicals, journals and the like.

If you do not go to university you can probably bribe a student and get access to the database fairly easy.

Jstor is a good example of a nice database of articles and the like

Here are some Giller Prize nominated (and some winners) books that are acclaimed:

Esi Edugyan, Half-Blood Blues
Michael Ondaatje, The Cat's Table
M. G. Vassanji, The Assassin's Song
Margaret Atwood, Oryx and Crake

Also I always recommend having a copy of Moon & Sixpence in every library.

Yes I should still think it will be a bore but I am trying to write something different.

Also I am not making fun of him. It is just satirical in nature

This thread is very un/lit/ in character. I must protest

I am working on a short story about Brian Mulroney. It is my third attempt at a comedic Canadian piece.

I do not believe there is such a thing as procrastination. I write when it suits my mood the best. Writing when you are lethargic is the recipe for mediocrity.

Also it warms my heart that people nowadays still use a refillable pen to write. Shamefully I moved over to typing on a computer.

Religious toleration is very much a part of Canadian culture for the most part. As a practicing member of the christian race I encounter not much opposition.

The only time I might be questioned is around some of my younger friends who usually adopt atheism for some reason. I think it is like a rite of passage to defy your parents or something

Well do not let that discourage you. If you really want to read this novel then you will find a way to make it work.

I can think of several inconvenient ways you can try to locate the book. For example: check your local or university level library. Or contact the distributor of the book

This is fairly unsporting. Someone used their own time to contribute something for public consumption.

The execution of St Thomas More. I always sympathize with him.

Reading with google translate is not ideal but it works in a pinch. It is better if you at least have a working knowledge of the structure of the language

I am so lucky to have scenes like this in my backyard.

My next great adventure will be to go to a desert for the first time. I cant imagine how nice it is to have the peace of mind of not having to worry about freezing to death.

Well I am just a cheery and pleasant person in general. And winter is ever so much fun as it is without my influence.

There is no joy greater to me than to hear the crunch of fresh snow beneath my snowshoes on a brisk evening stroll in the forest.

That is gorgeous. I find the idea of the desert to be so romantic in literature and real life.

I sometimes have trouble with run on sentences because of the frantic nature of my writing. Whenever I do a line I always find my sentences to be sharper and quite short. I do not like writing like this all the time because I always try to be cheery and light when writing about things like winter

I forgot to mention that this is supposed to affect your mood and possibly get you into a more suspenseful mindset.

Again, I will not claim to the effectiveness of this method.
