Are psychedelics /lit/? Has tripping contributed to your intellectual development?

Pic related- Foucault did LSD in a desert and called it one of the most important experiences of his life

>Thus, by an analysis of penal leniency as a technique of political power, one might understand both how man, the soul, the normal or abnormal individual have come to duplicate crime as objects of penal intervention; and in what way a specific mode of subjigation was able to give birth to man as an object of knowledge for a discourse with a 'scientific' status.

I don't understand.

I've never even read him. But the punchability level of almost any pic of him is too high. This one, specifically, breaks any record for me.

This man is giving me a hard time.

Am I the only one who struggle to understand him?. I'm reading The Order of Things and half of the time I have no idea of what he's talking about.

Is there a companion to the book (besides the cambridge companion) that will help me reading The Order of Things?

A rather plebeian question, you might say, but I've been seeing more and more of these Foucault threads where people comment about understanding him to understand something else and whatnot.

So, here's what: I have like 0 knowledge about Foucault's works (cause I count wikipedia level as 0), how does this impact my understanding of the novels I read? (This question applies for any other one... Freud, Lacan, you name it).

Am I just not getting everything from the literature I read cause I don't know much about this guys? Do writers really keep them in mind when writing? Should I study their works extensively then re-read every piece of literature I have ever read?

Hey /lit/, I'm reading The History of Sexuality for the first time and I'm having trouble understanding it. I get that sexual relations are about power, but how is it that other power relations have become sexual. I'm a teacher and I've taught hundreds of students without having sex with them, or even being attracted to them. So how is it that our relationship is still sexual? I just don't get how the sexuality spread. Other examples of power relationships which are sexual, according to Foucault, include: Doctor-Patient, Parent-Child, and Patient-Psychiatrist,.

Dubs are merely a form of institutionalized social control.
