Fucking based. What even happened with book covers (and movie posters too)? They don't look timeless at all, like The Great Gatsby or American Psycho.

What are some good books that teach you how to argue? I try to watch some debate videos on youtube but i get lost when both parties ignore the others talking point and talk over each other constantly.

This is what i dont get i thought socialism was when the work force is the one who has full control of the capital and means of production. Shouldnt the governments job be to enforce the fair part ownership of the capital, not outright own it themselves? But it seems like every socialist state was just the government owning the capital and grossly abusing their power while claiming they are doing so in the name of the people...I guess there has never been a true pure socialist state?

Why is it cool to hate capitalism? People arent helpless victims in this system we are all contributing to it and we enjoy it no matter how much you want to deny it.

>Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT, typically pronounced as the word "act") is a form of counseling and a branch of clinical behavior analysis.[1] It is an empirically-based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies mixed in different ways[2] with commitment and behavior-change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. The approach was originally called comprehensive distancing.[3]
>The objective of ACT is not elimination of difficult feelings; rather, it is to be present with what life brings us and to "move toward valued behavior".[6] Acceptance and commitment therapy invites people to open up to unpleasant feelings, and learn not to overreact to them, and not avoid situations where they are invoked. Its therapeutic effect is a positive spiral where feeling better leads to a better understanding of the truth.[7] In ACT, 'truth' is measured through the concept of 'workability', or what works to take another step toward what matters (e.g. values, meaning).

What does /lit/ think of ACT? What are the best books for learning how to practice it?

how the fuck do you weirdos read whole books in a single day? Seriously, how? I'm reading the Fellowship of the Ring. I started it like 3 weeks ago and am only 200 pages in. And that's a book that has sucked me in. I'm at the part where the Black ones attacked, and they left the inn with Strider. I really get into that world when I'm reading it but to read the entire fucking thing in a day?

How do you do that?
