What does /lit/ think of motivational books? I need some motivation but these books seem cultish. They all seem to have glowing reviews.

Is there a more ironic book title than this, /lit/?

Hey /lit/, would you mind critiquing a really awful poem for me? I mean, I know it's awful, I just don't know how to make it better.

The concept of a greater being, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, or otherwise
is the thing that keeps them going.
And who are you,
To deny them that?
There was also more that I wanted to say, but it was unbearable shitty, so I took it out. Bleh, everything sounds perfect until you write it down on paper.

Did you read these books when you were younger? What is your gender? Have you ever noticed how boys are only expected to read books with male heroes (because they can't relate to female ones?), but girls are expected to relate to heroes of both genders? In general, how does the gender of a main character affect your reading experience?

Hey /lit/, it's spring break and my campus is empty - I'm still here, taking advantage of the peace and quiet to get some work done.

I'm in the science building study lounge and I start browsing the the shelves of books. I've never done it before now because it just looks like a bunch of old outdated textbooks.

However, in the middle of one shelf I found two dozen science fiction paperbacks - about half Asimov, and the rest Herbert, Vonnegut, etc.

Jackpot.

Question: Is it okay to steal these?

Hey /lit/ I have a bunch of textbooks, manga, and some old novels that I want to get rid of. What tips do you have for selling old books that are still in decent condition? Is Half Priced Books an okay place to go to?
