Having never read any Pynchon aside from that excerpt, I enjoyed it a lot. I like his writing style (if that piece is indicative of his overall style) and am now considering reading something of his, despite my unofficial rule to follow in that one guy's footsteps and not read anything post-1950

Well the last novel I read was Of Blood and Honor, by Chris Metzen. I finished it in a few hours because it was short and shit-tier, as it's one of the World of Warcraft books that I began reading because a friend of mine and I recently started playing WoW together and he told me I should read them to better understand things.
The last "literature" I read was The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa, and that took about a week to finish, because it was rather dense and long, yet engaging and interesting.

The amount of time it takes me to read a book isn't based on the amount of pages but on the density of the text.
