Hannibal by Theodore Ayrault Dodge. It was written by an American Cavalry Officer veteran from the civil war. He actually visited the scenes of the battles, and cites the ancient sources, but also defends Hannibal quite a bit. It is better than his Alexander book, which is also not bad.

How do they grocery shop in Manhattan? Genuinely curious. I've seen Seinfeld, on that show he only buys two bags at a time. Is that really the way it is done?

A comedian I heard once said that women say words twice to convey meaning. The example was:
>I went on a date.
>Yeah, but was it a DATE date?
I pay attention to this now, and men do it too. So, keep that in mind when writing.

By the time I will be 64 I won’t be able to afford living in my home town, because people from the cities are fleeing to it. Your post is accurate in a sense, but the beauty of nature trails and countryside are not quite so bland. Also, we are seeing immigration in diverse ethnicities which is changing the formerly static makeup of our population. Your post is a tepid snapshot, ignoring trends emergent perhaps unnoticed until COVID, but nevertheless felt in the now.

Just think of it this way: nothing stays on the same plane forever. Things are either getting better or getting worse, and this is happening all the time. You might find that if you improve in one aspect, somewhere else you might regress. This is the problem. I think controlling the little things builds confidence. Things that are measurable and doable.

I myself, started a weightloss regime,
then I started brushing my teeth after every meal, 3 times a day.
This made me more confident, but I've never been more depressed, because now I want more and more, it's like I am addicted to improvement, and I am very impatient.

There are no self help books that will work. We need social structures to instill this kind of thing, and I for one, have none.

Have you read “A Stranger In A Strange Land” OP? It’s basically the main point of the book.

people are people so why do you think they are BTFO? most people don't change and re-evaluate their lives because someone on Moroccan Cymbals Tibetan Origami website told them they only care about aesthetics.

Hunter S. Thompson practiced his prose by copying out this book and another one on his typewriter. I think it's a good idea, but I wouldn't use this book.

they take some getting used to. Have you noticed there is a slide on most, that brings them into focus?
