We don't "know" that JBP had a hair transplant. Balding can sometimes be reversed to some extent through changes to diet. Anyway, I can see an argument to be made that something like this would be considered a form of grooming. If, for instance, someone had surgery to obscure a facial scar, would we consider it a sign of vanity?

Me too. Though, to be honest, I probably wouldn't have given him the time of day if I hadn't seen /lit/ singing his praises.

There are some just criticisms to be made of Stephen Fry, but inadequate enthusiasm for the Classics isn’t one of them.

He does something that /lit/ usually likes in a way that's accessible to normies.

Why not try my approach? Having fewer options makes choosing easier.

"Books for women"? What do we mean by "for women," exactly?

>My to read list is just the books I have on hand already.
Perhaps it's relevant that I'm reading on a Kindle.

>I intend to read a set of books this year, but if I change my mind on any of them, I’m free to do so.
How big a set are we talking?

Does anyone else do something like this?

I keep a "to-read" list that I limit to 10 books. If a book catches my eye, I put it on the list, but I also have to kick another book off. This helps keep it from sprawling to unmanageable length.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa's "The Head That Fell Off" probably qualifies.

Don't flatter her. There's as much space between mediocrity and "worst of all time" as there is between mediocrity and "best of all time."

I concur. The book wasn't horrible, but it seemed less focused and punchy than his lectures. There are a lot of strong points entangled with weaker and more diffuse ones.

Hating Ayn Rand is a meme, yes, but she’s still a poor writer.

Minton Moogler is a little-known poet who actually composed his final (rather brief) poem while in the process of committing suicide.

Minton Moogler - “July 12, 1936”

Today I think myself I’ll kill
So now I stand on window sill
I look up, I look down
Now I fall toward the ground
Too late to take my mistakes back
So now I’ll EEEEEEEEEE jdhckzklzkjx

I was made to read it during middle school; however, my father was a fanatical anti-Semite. So I was stuck in the position of having to read this book and do assignments on it completely under the radar.

Many antitheists come out of majority-Christian societies (if for no other reason that anti-theists outside the West are more likely to get lynched or beheaded) so it’s natural that they’d focus more on Christianity than, say, Zoroastrianism.
