>As with Chinoiserie, Jews quickly found themselves at the vanguard of the trade in Japanese and Japanese-influenced textiles, handicrafts, and artworks. Well connected in Asia and welcomed by the Japanese as westerners who did not practice a missionary religion, Jews quickly rose to the level once held only by the Dutch and latterly the English in the Japanese trade. Jews were also seen by many in the long nineteenth century as being somewhat or entirely "oriental" (though more in the sense of the near east), a tag which some prominent Jews embraced. Jewish women were painted in (and known to wear at home) Ottoman, Japanese, and Chinese robes at a far higher rate than their Christian contemporaries.
>In his 1892 portrait of Anna Graveur, daughter of Moses Graveur, a prominent Belgian importer of Japanese antiques, Herman Richir depicted her at play among her father's vast trove of Japanese items, then awaiting sale at Ostend.

I always had empathy for the poor, the disabled and the disadvantaged in general. Maybe this is due to my upbringing, but I could never go and hate poor people. I feel bad when I see people suffering, but I know that real solutions to real problens don't come out of thin air and hopes, but require serious labor.
So, that is the reason why Marx, for instance, is appealing to me. I am not such an optimist as an anarchist, but also not a complete pessimist.
I think that many people today will be dead by the end of the century due to wars. I don't think I could ever kill someone.
