Oh. My mistake, don't get too excited over it. G and B are next to each other on the keyboard.

Let's just say his novellas were short stories, for the sake of argument (although I can only think of The Metamorphosis).

Some great books took 10 years to write. Does that mean the writers wrote for 5 hours a day? No.

2666 > Last Evenings on Earth > Amulet = In Chile By Night > The Savage Detectives.

I want to get most of his works, but they're too expensive at the moment. 200 page book for £20?

I think people in this thread have a generous idea of what a 10/10 girl is. I've never seen one IRL, much less fucked one.

Bret Easton Ellis
Joe McGuiness Jr
Margaret Atwood
Steig Larsson

All good authors, IMO, especially 'Maggy' Atwood. Post your own.

What period of time is modernmism meant to be in, and what period of time of postmodernism meant to be in? I wasn't ever sure of this.

Allende is the soap. House of the Spirits is great, Daughter of Fortune is very good, and her other books are all decent. Never read a bad book by her. /lit/ doesn't like her though.

Didn't care for the film, but the book might be good. I wanted something long. I was really into King in 2007 (Dark Tower) and 2009 (misc), but I haven't enjoyed his stuff recently. Is this good?

Joyce was a modernist, not a postmodernist.

Can you elaborate on that post?

>> No.1880124 [View]

I only posted the DFW picture to get people to read the OP. Infinite Jest was mediocre. The best postmodern book ever is 2666, with House of Leaves probably in second.

Updated list...

> Long, run-on sentences, with 6 or 7 clauses
> Inconclusive or vague ending
> Lots of sex and violence
> Footnotes

As decent as OP is, what, if anything, does this have to do with literature? Was she prettier and less slutty than Bjork?

Seriously, what do you think of this list? I'm not saying all pomo novels have these, but many do, and I think if you put them all together you've probably got a good postmodern novel.

Girl With Curious Hair is the best start. Fairly simple (sort of), not too long, and short stories to read in chunks. Probably his best book as well.

Can someone please explain to me what is happening? I admit, 850 pages in, I've completely lost track of what is happening. I recognise the characters, but don't know why they're doing things or what they're doing. I thought this would actually be a Pynchon book I understood, unlike all the others.

>> No.1879484 [View]

I'm 850 pages into it. Seems fairly average to me. The first 300 pages were pretty enjoyable, with the Chums of Chance and the anarchists in Colorado, then it dropped the ball. The story was no longer interesting, and I ended up getting lost.
