Yeah, there is always tons of crap before the gems. Comb the prehistory of film and gain hipster cred by watching awesome diamonds they've probably never heard of

1980's is where it's at, if you ask me.

As much as /lit/ likes to seethe with rage over trip antics, most of anon actively encourages it

Gibson thinks your piece is decently written, but really very cliched.

7/10, the shadowy man was a nice twist and the plotting does not feel forced, but "it was all a dream" and "aspiring writer" are like the most cliche factors you could have possibly written

Also, I think you are writing a tad too vaguely the emotion you wish your actor to convey. /opinion

I seem to remember my prof talking about this one. Written shortly before Hemmingway committed suicide, aparently

IIRC The older waiter was empathetic with the man because he was essentially in the same boat. Nothing to live for

nope. I've decided to take a shot at a smalltime poetry competition-with-chance-of-being-published instead. I'm goning to fail miserably, but this time I'll try to lose even better than last time

I've got ~20 pages of decent poetry, 8 more and I'll at least clear the minimum requirements

Soviet-era cinema can be fucking amazing. Unique landscapes, different cinematography, actors that do stuff their american counterparts wouldn't even dream of, a focus on symbolism to avoid the censors... FUCK YEA

>Good films
Stalker, Meshes of the afternoon, Eraserhead, Angels egg, brazil, chinatown, come and see, Ghost in the shell 1+2, Princess mononoke, Cat soup, taxi driver, dark city, requiem for a dream, Akira, apocalypse now, Blade Runner, grave of the fireflys

I had a friend who watched good films almost compulsively, and I stuck around to watch with him. I'd really like to recommend all of these to you if you have time.. you won't be disappointed. Some, like Meshes of the Afternoon or Ghost in the Shell might be a little too arthouse or slightly animu for you, but even then it's a good list

le feu,Storm of Steel,All quiet on the western front, Ghosts have warm hands, A Terrible Beauty: The Art of Canada at War (stupid title, but a really good selection of ww1 poems)
There you have'em, go crazy. Don't forget the art of Otto dix for a good dose of trauma

Also, while I'm at it... anybody know of a british short story called "the sniper", or something? Features a sniper killing brits on the western front only to get captured and wrapped up in barbed wire to die or something. I've been looking for that one for ages
