Savage detectives is a better novel. Yeah, in terms of structure and overall plot.

I like 2666 more. It makes sad Bolaño died in the middle of this, I read 2666 and wonder what he would had writen after, maybe he would get to the bottom of his obsessions.

Sorry bro but when Madero first met Arturo and Ulises on the poetry workshop they already knew about Cesarea, hence they already interviewed Maples Arce at least. Belano and Lima learn about Vicerrealism by Amadeo Salvatierra's story, then they go and make their own movement.

Amadeo is being interviewed on January 1976, that's on the book, but the events he's talking about (the actual visit) took place sometime on 1974-75.

Madero being the interviewer is a crazy theory. I like the idea, It does make sense kindof. Before this thread I had another take at it: Academic research (yes, the kind the critics do in 2666 when looking for Archimboldi), or Infrarealist research as coined by Heriberto Yépez, mexican critic. That is, a group of academics searching for Bolaño and Papasquiaro's footsteps the same way Belano and Lima did with Tinajero's. Bolaño was foretelling what happened in the mexican academic literary sphere when Papasquiaro's poems where pondered as canon or non canon. The supporting group had to carve names and locations and interview people. Part of this is in Arte & Basura by Luis Felipe Fabre and Bolaño Infra by some chilean author I don't remember right now.

I hate when people do this to me. I get like "Really? Is your judgement this poor?" Hell, if I wanted to hear my piece is "pretty" or "good" I'd show it to my mother. Girls are the worst in this regard, sometimes they say that first book shit or that they glad they met a writer for the first time. To this day I still got mails from an ex asking me about how my career goes, fucking cunt. A girl from school did this notebook shit with me, but in a more stupid way: she didn't wrote down a story but my freaking tweets.

So yeah, people can be assholes without noticing. Same when they regard me as their writer friend when they haven't read even their college textbooks. Just wanted to share my take on the issue. I don't know how to take a biased compliment.

I read to learn the tricks of the trade. I feel alone in this.

Only had the Iliad in poem form so I purchased the prose version. Along with a better translation of the Odyssey of what i already had. Aeschylus is the next I'm reading.

Science can't kill art. 4chan /sci/ disregarding any form of art is not the same as killing it. That being is said, it's not a dichotomy, you can get an aestethic experience from science discoveries and such.
