This could be true. But from my experience girls treat books as another indie fashion accessory.

But true. There are a shitload of respected academic intellectuals, all good at writing theory, essays and studies but couldn't write a novel. Being a great fiction writer is like being a rockstar, both are futures everyone seek but only a few accomplish.

Most of it are scams. I don't discard the possibility some self-help book which is not a scam could exist.

Ah, yeah. Same "you can do it" bullshit every author of his league does. Kind of an auto help book. The characters are weakly developed and the plot is predictable, boring and unoriginal, like that shit about the gold and the old woman who was a witch and the main character was supposed to pay for her treasure finding services until he find the gold. And yeah, he finds it, like he was supposed after a shitload of pages repeating the same tamtra over and over again about some cheap shit like "when you want something the universe conspire to grant it to you".

That kind of bullshit is what is inside that "book".
