Of course I don’t watch anime, let alone read manga, for the same reason I don’t watch cartoons or read comic books. I like my fiction to be intelligent, original, and make me think, perhaps teach me something new about the human condition, which I only get from high literature. I lose no sleep knowing there are countless “critically acclaimed” anime/manga out there that I have not and will not touch. It does not bother me in the least.

But it’s fine. IQ distributions exist and not everyone is smart enough nor have the sufficient attention spans for literature, which is why they gravitate to anime. Same reason some people play video games. I don’t mind if retards and midwits enjoy McDonald’s, blissfully unaware of the infinitely superior 5-star meals. I let them be.
