Well, if I brought GR tomorrow, I would be incredibly surprised if I also finished it tomorrow.

Well that's my ultimate goal, but I don't want to go out and spend $100+ tomorrow.

Hey, /lit/, I have a problem.
I'm currently reading War and Peace, and the edition I have is a nice leather bound one (http://www.amazon.com/War-Peace-Leo-Tolstoy/dp/1607103109/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335504778&amp
;sr=8-1).
I plan tomorrow to ride my bike out to the park and spend the day reading and stuff, and I don't want to bring that book out and about on account of its being nice.
What book should I read on my outdoor-day tomorrow?
My options are:
As I Lay Dying - Faulkner
Some random fantasy book - ???
Gravity's Rainbow - Pynchon
Les Miserables - Hugo
Any of Joyce's works
Crime and Punishment - Theodore Don'tstopmeyetsky

I'm actually pretty interested in that picture.
Although, knowing the creator, it's probably shit.

>that feel when I love historical non-fiction, but my areas of interest are 1940-present and can thus only offer a little bit of help to you
A good WWI book is The Guns of August - Barbara Tuchman
Tojo: The Last Banzai - Courtney Browne is really good, too, it's about Hideki Tojo (general/leader of Japan during WWII).
J. Edgar - Curt Gentry is also really quite good.

Not on purpose, it just happened that way.

Not a story or any form of literature, but the comic series "Old Man Logan" has that.
Logan (Wolverine) takes a vow of peace after all the villains band together and psychologically fuck him and kill the other heroes and take over America.
The Hulk rules the West coast, where Logan lives with his wife and children as a rancher. Hulk breeds with She-Hulk (his cousin) and has a shitload of little child-Hulks. They're his gang who collect money for rent and shit, and Logan is poor.
Hawkeye comes with an opportunity for Logan, so he goes off to make some money.
Long story short, he kills the Red Skull with Cap's shield, flies home in Iron Man's armor, and finds his family slaughtered. His friend in the town is like "don't do nuthin rash now logan"
and he says "Name's not Logan. It's Wolverine." and it goes SNIKT for a whole page.
Then he goes fucking Rambo and kills every single member of the Hulk gang.

I loved it when I read it in eighth grade. I haven't read it since, though.

You could do all of those things.
I'd prefer if you didn't, but I have no way to stop you and honestly it doesn't matter to me that much.
The only reason I would have to stop you would be a personal reason that I wouldn't be able to back up if asked to make it impersonal.

>implying objective morality
It's up to each human, but society teaches it to children so that they all agree on what's "morale."

You should watch Mad Men.
I used to abhor smoking. Now it's a constant struggle to not start.

Please stop spelling things like that.
Based on your post, I'm going to assume you're in high school, maybe sophomore or junior year.
You don't need to worry about this stuff yet, because you're most likely going to change drastically a few times before you settle into who you're going to be for the rest of your life.
Go ride a bike or something instead.

>Last book
The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway
>Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a very enjoyable read.
>Current book
War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy
>Thoughts
I've only just started, but it's already pretty good. I just hope my expectations aren't too high for it.
>Next book
Ulysses - James Joyce
>Predictions
If it's anything like Portrait or Dubliners, I'll enjoy it. I like his writing style, regardless, so I'll most likely enjoy it. I also really like the whole Irish setting of his books.
