i've been meaning to buy the Vintage editions. But is it worth it getting the complete thing in one volume?

i'm learning Japanes on my own and Anki is pretty decent. I have heard bad things about Rosetta Stone though.

I may or may not be starting Mandarin in the summer. Is there anything like Taekim but for Chinese?

Bah,forget I said that.

But I really do despise those types of people. We need to do something like Ludovico Technique on them that will make them hate their partying lifestyle and get them into reading and becomin model citizens.

Second. No Longer Human is a great book.

But what will happen to those who shun reading? Do we use them for cheap labour to help build our war machines or do we adopt some "Inferior Genes act"?

>> No.2597020 [View]

I agree with two and three.

I like it, but I do hate that it's being lumped in with Harry Potter and Twilight.

That picture is fake, right? Fuck humanity, there is no hope for us.

Used to like him, now I wish he'd just go away.

Dark Tower series is excellent though.

"The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed".

List. Billy Pilgrim has became unstuck in time.

Those are two of my favourites.

Listen to this man.

Narcissu isn't bad either.

I really should look into reading The Illiad, I did read The Odyssey last year and enjoyed it a lot. How different would Troy had turned out had Odysseus brought his magic bow along? It was kind of a dick move to just leave it at home.

Pretty cool, it was my first time reading anything by him. Think i'll look into The Social Contract or Julie later in the year. But I would advise reading it.

How was the Hume book? Currently on a Philosophy binge at the moment.

It's pretty engrossing, picked up loads after the whole incident with Grushenka. But I do wish the other brothers got as much development as Alyosha is getting.

Last books I read:
No Longer Human-Dazai
Confessions by Rousseau
The Prince

Currently:
Brothers K about 300 pages into it.

Next:
Either a collection of Thomas Paine's work or Song Of Roland.

OP i'm curious on that Japanese book next to the Lovecraft collection. Would you suggest it to someone who is learning Japanese?

No Longer Human is a damn good book. But apparently it's hard to find. Had to buy mine on Ebay for £10. Worth it.

For Nabokov I started with The Defense, I have An Invitation to a Beheading but I will probably start that once I am done with Brothers K.

I will look into both.

I notice a lot of Asian literature, I am starting Mandarin soon and you wouldn't be able to suggest any books on Chinese history, would you?

I didn't know it was out this early. Some shops around here usually release books quite earlier than expected. I will probably read it later in the summer.

Women thinking they can write satirical political books.

Nothing new here;move along.

It will still sell well because she wrote Harry Potter.

>Sophocles.

Got his complete plays the other day in the post via Amazon. Never really been a play bloke, but who should I check out if I happen to like him?

But I am.

Just haven't watched 2 and 3 yet.

>Previously read.
Confessions by Rousseau

>Thoughts.
Pretty interesting, especially the parts with Diderot, I need to look into his works later in the year.

Currently reading:
Brothers Karamazov.

>Thoughts.
i'm only one third of the way through it, Alyosha is an acceptable main character, but I wish the other brothers would get more development. It's also probably the most preachiest Dostoyevsky novel i've read out of all his works so far.
