>read Oxford’s book on the Pre-Socratics
>Read the Trial and Death of Socrates
>about 1/4 of the way through Republic
>bored to tears by Republic
How do I get through this so I can move on to the interesting stuff? I have lost my will to read Plato. It’s so repetitive

I've spent most of my lifetime automatically being obsessed with fiction (in any medium), and don't know anything about the real world. I want to get into nonfoction. What are the most and least important types of nonfiction books to read? If you were to rank the following:
>Arts & Culture
>Biography & Memoirs
>Business & Economics
>History
>Philosophy
>Psychology & Self-help
>Religion & Spirituality
>Science & Nature
>Social Science

Oh, so you enjoy discussing literature? Which of the four Classic Chinese Novels is the most thematically rich? Best plot from the unexpurgated The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night translated by Richard Francis Burton? Conceptismo or culteranismo? Fav character from Orlando furioso and La Gerusalemme liberata? Best French dramatist of the 17th C? Who is the greatest Russian essayist? What did you think of Böhme's work? Berkeley or Hume? Which narrative mode do you employ most when writing your masterpieces? Trochaic pentameter or anaepestic tetrameter? Well, don't keep us in suspense.

I've been returning a lot to the /lit/ Philosophy Project (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y8_RRaZW5X3xwztjZ4p0XeRplqebYwpmuNNpaN_TkgM/mobilebasic?pli=1))
and finding it quite useful I thought, does /lit/ has something similar for literature? (Prose, Poetry)
A guide that goes through every period and movement of Western Literature. Like the charts The Greeks or The Romans but going beyond that. If not, should we make it?
Also, I’m aware of the Wiki, but seems like random recommendations more than a structured approach.
Thanks for reading and fuck frogposters.

it would have been much wiser for the reader and your life to have put book 1 first and the preludes at the end, then.

How do I decide? My shelves are 90% western canon material so anything I choose will be good. That’s the problem
