Nenets, Sami, basically all finnic/uralic pseudochinks.

Also those creepy as fuck people from central africa that Herzog did a documentary on.

ALso the Romans. Romanitas chases out any spook.

/Lit/ i hope you can help me with this.
Hopefully you've heard of "the Quiet World" by Jeffrey McDaniel. It's a love letter to someone in a world where people can only say 167 per day. And in this poem you can see how the writter plays with numbers, but i can't find a reason why did he picked up the 167, him being so methodic. So i'm here hopping that any of you know why is that because i can't find it and i can keep up with the doubt. Thank you in advance /lit/

and what is up with this, honestly?

Before I frequented /lit/ I would make an occasional troll thread, but a legitimate troll thread not frog posting or pol tier garbage. Maybe I am partly to blame, but that style of trolling is dying out as mindless idiots latch on to the concept and distort it with their autism.

but there were two prior lit collabs so what made those work when dreamscape didn't?

that must be a lot of work, so I don't blame you.

What kind of editing process could we help with though? Surely you have a better sense of structure than the rest of us, and deliberating between anons would be difficult.

Okay /lit/ this is my first time posting but really needed an answer!
I've read through the 7 Game of Thrones books several times (mostly loved them) and you'll prob know that it's been ages since the last one.
A friend of mine online just mentioned to me that GRRMartin has actually stopped writing to work on writing the script for the series!
My question is is this true at all and is there any news on when he will resume the book!?
I know GoT is popular so apologies if this is a common question/ thread.

Hey, would it be totally autistic to try to sync a text story with music? I'm writing a short fiction work, with the MC hacking into a ships speaker/sound system then playing some spoopy music to scare the defenders shitless as he too them out one by one?

The cons are
1.People read at different speeds
2.I have to write and structure that part of the story around the music, when I could maybe have readers who read slowly or who read very quickly.

Pros:
1.C00l.

Into how many languages can /lit/ translate this line from Virgil's Aeneid?

"Ibant obscuri sola sub nocte per umbram"

I'm curious to see how many languages we speak as a whole, and the profficiency at translating that we have.

The verbatim English translation renders:

“They went obscure under the lonely
shadows”

Though I would preferably translate it as:

“They went in darkness lonely by the shade”

Do you novelists/creatives have a deep feeling that what you are writing is special/that you are one day going to be a famous author or gain some recognition. I want to ask those that are writing, what your age is, how many novels/how far in are you and out of /10 how much do you believe your writing is "special" or you are destined to write something that will bring you acclaim.

I don't read YA so for me, no, I wasn't really interested. Obviously I'm not your target, though. If I were 16-17 then perhaps. At the very least you managed to provide a hook and interesting characters with a fast pace.

Your dialogue is YA and cringey, but not bad per se. What IS bad is your attention to detail and lack of realism.

Spend some more time developing what you're writing. Describe something. Make sure all your plot points fit together. Stay away from cliche'd expressions and don't feel like just because your main character is 12 (and I really suggest making her older) that the adults in your world need to behave like brain donors.

You describe the old man as skinny, covered in rags. Yet somehow this girl managed to hide beneath his rags without making a conspicuous shape, despite the proximity of the guards and their torches, even after they get close enough to kick him.

Ohboy

Right off the bat, learn where to put your commas. Try reading out loud what you've written and think hard as to whether or not you need a comma.

And semi-colons.
And hyphens.

>folding iron staff
Iron's not very strong, especially not an articulated piece, so I don't think a girl would be able to parkour around with it (it's very heavy), nor would it support her weight if she tried to pole vault with it.

>women's thong
wat

>urchin, marrying a fat baron, has a sick folding iron staff.
