The plebs in my 9th grade English class all read the abridged version, but for me it was all or nothing.

I finally finished The Count of Monte Cristo.
What a fantastic novel. I’d be really interested to know what other people enjoyed in this lengthy classic so here’s a few question.

What was your favourite chapter?
Who was your favourite character other then The Count
What was a interesting chapter that stood out or took you by surprise?
What was your favourite small plot line?
Was the punishments fair?

Almost 400 pages into this, and I really don't know if I should bother carrying on with this. I mean I'm just so fucking bored with it. While I was enjoying it a fair amount from when Dantes starts communicating with the abbe in the prison probably to the point where he saves his old captain from his debts, but now for like the last seventy pages we've been following these two fellas Franz and Albert and their little holiday in Rome, and it feels like one of those unrelated stories you'd get in Don Quixote, just really badly done. And in general, the characters aren't interesting or really notable at all, apart from maybe the Abbe, the prose is mediocre at best, and the story really doesn't seem to be anything special. I don't know lads, maybe there's a turn for the much better really soon that I obviously don't know about, but if not then I really don't feel like carrying on with this. Idk, you tell me.
