Currently taking a required class about literary theory, and it’s driving me up the wall. The beginning of the semester wasn’t so bad since we were mainly just talking about the Greeks, the Renaissance, Romanticism, etc. but once we got into the modern and postmodern, things took a deplorable turn. Every class now feels like I’m sitting in on a KGB re-education seminar (barring the restraints and water boarding). The professor and my classmates openly profess their hatred for men (or subtly project their desire to purge us from existence because of their pathological trauma) in front of both myself and the three other male students in the room. Having to constantly hear a bunch of historical academic screed and pseudo-philosophical nonsense pilfered from Hegel, and the insane malevolent ramblings of Foucault and the Frankfurt School about how the Capital T truth is “undefinable”, is enough to make me want to pull my fucking hair out. It takes a large amount of energy to not engage with these people in any real debate on their beliefs because of how utterly absurd, destructive, and censorious they are, but I know better than to do it because it’s simply not worth the hassle. Nothing I say could ever change any of their collectivist opinions anyway, because when it really comes down to it, women will follow whatever opinion is the status quo - even if it’s utterly batshit and amoral - because their god-given/evolutionary existence is predicated on conforming to what the tribe thinks is best regardless of whether or not the direction of the tribe is on a trajectory for complete and total self-annihilation.

We haven’t spoken about how any of this bullshit relates to a literary reading AT ALL the past few months. But I shouldn’t worry right? Because soon we’re going to be talking about the different gonzo “theories” or “deconstructive lenses” through which we can feel self righteous by comparison to all stupid the people and cultures of the past that are ALL alien, ALL sexist, ALL colonizing, ALL capitalist, and ALL barbaric! Nothing in the past has any value because it doesn’t serve THE CAUSE, right? It’s all NOW NOW NOW! PROGRESS PROGRESS PROGRESS! Spirit doesn’t exist! The world is exclusively MATERIAL! I don’t wanna work! BE MY SLAVE! BE MY SLAVE!

If their theories are so correct, and the traditional structures that people followed for thousands and thousands of years are an artificial idea (not simply a response to natural and universal phenomena), then why the FUCK is everyone so goddamn unhappy then? How are millennials and gen z so completely oblivious to the subversive hatred of these Marxists who want to revolt and install a second Soviet Union?

Why does reddit get all the flak when this place is possibly just as bad? Any books that'll make me understand this?
