Hey. Have you guys read this book? I hear its a good one.

when i was 17 i was slamming my girl-friend at my empty house. she ended up screaming my name several times near climax. we get dressed and i walk downstairs to find my father standing at the kitchen sink
-as a /b/tard you must already know, my dad hates me
-he has never given me any compliment in my life
-we barely speak
-but this day is different

this is the day he realizes his son is not a fag, he turns from the sink(which... he aint a pussy so why he was at the sink is beyond me) looks at me... and gives me a *nod* of approval...

need some ideas for literature to keep in my library and see how long it takes my first sergeant to realize I have a lot of anti-government books and posters. Preferably ones that are actually worth reading (or worth looking at in terms of posters)

Are any of the /lit/erati willing to admit that they're bad at spelling? Do computers make it easier for us to spell than before, or is spellcheck a crutch that makes us dumber?

I am a fan of horror fiction, but I'm not well read beyond some Stephen King and some classics from ol HP and of course Dracula.

Can /lit/ recommend any good horror fiction? Preferably something with demons and such?

Does Hugo mean that ask you empty your purse (as in, to buy something for another) your heart is filled, or as you lose money (become poor, by circumstance or choice) your heart is filled?

Anyone have a better choice or should I go with this?

I have not read nearly as many books as I probably should have. Help me out. Even entry-level stuff, I probably wouldn't have read it.

Hello /lit/

If nobody minds, I have two questions for you. The first is that I wanted to try getting into writing fiction stories, either sci-fi, mystery/detective, or humor, so I figured I would try writing some short stories in those genres to see how I do. So I was wondering if any of you know of any decent magazines that accept short stories in any of these genres. While pay would be nice, feedback and exposure are far more important at the moment.

The second, would it be alright if I post a short story that I wrote a while back in order to get some feedback? I know you'll be brutally honest, and RIP AND TEAR, so I think you'd be a huge help.

What if Atlas Shrugged was written by Stephen King?

I think it could turn out well; what with a brilliant writer developing on a brilliant concept.

Sup /lit/, thinking about writing a letter to a friend that's currently an ocean away. Would be cool to start up regular correspondence. There was a thread here a couple weeks ago about how some people actually started letter writing and letters were SO cash, any advice you can give me to writing a letter? don't want to babble away about nothing like the tool that I am.
