Good day, folks. Before you balk at this topic and sage it to hell, do allow me to explain myself.

I want to make a topic addressing the anon-tee-ay-elle-kay issue. Now before you accuse me of being a bot, know that I hate that fat pedophile fuck. I'm getting pretty sick of the spamming. At first, we all just "dealt with it". That's getting old.

I'm not going to make a lengthy rant; I just want to start a topic on what I consider to be a pretty damn good board. General discussion, if you will. And possible solutions.

So, that said, feel free to discuss your thoughts on the issue and the new depth it's reached. I have faith in you, good /lit/izens.

HIIIPPPSSSSSTEEERRRSS!

I read most of this novella this morning in a bookstore. It dismays now upon reflection to realize that back in the day hipsters were at least concerned with interesting hobbies like becoming drug addicts or being political (See William S. Burroughs). These days people like the guy who wrote this novel seem more concerned with appearing to be hipsters than actually being hipsters. Lin actually takes it to another level as he seems to care more about being seen as a writer than actually being a writer. LOOK AT ME I AM IN AN IRONIC BAND AND I ENJOY DISCUSSING THE BENEFITS OF VEGANISM IN CENTRAL PARK SURROUNDED BY MY MANY INTERESTING AND UNIQUE FRIENDS. THE POETRY WRITTEN ON MY MACBOOK PRO IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF MY CHARACTER.

Ok, I'm new here and I'm here to ask about a book I read a long time ago, to figure out if I actually read it or I dreamed it.

I think it was called "My Name is Liberty" or something, and it was about (I think) Farmers literally fighting against McDonald's, or a similar franchise.

Any help?

/lit/ critics, what do you think?

with luck, the surface like stone of a face is worn by time. teeth transformed by the tongue
always beating a tide of words
starry scenes of lovers sucked dry by mosquitos and ticks
collected dust blown east by courageous, wandering winds a stream that runs liquid glass--it stirs and pounds the drum denied
when hands that ring pick up the phone
the living room is filled by night as black as coal
on the rug the lovers lay the lamps shine on through bloody rain in someones mouth
a cigarette burns and marks the time of endless sleep the love divine.

Smell the book you are currently reading and post what it smells like.

Catcher in the Rye smells like a musty old barn after a rainstorm.

In this thread, we nostalgia about childhood memories of literature, and our favorite childhood books.

I remember as a child thinking 1984 was written in 1984.

I'm looking for some good military action (and possibly military/sci-fi action) books, in the same strain as the Halo novels and the Splinter Cell novels.

In Grettis Saga, sending down flames from the sky to scorch the enemy, I fucked every night on the grave of my hero. Fantastic does not begin to describe the light above, a sign of allegience from the god I know longer followed. The last breath of men blew in my face and I inhaled it deeply thinking the killing senseless, but having lost my sight, I relied on touch to reveal the starships wonders to me as I was thrown across this terrible, irreconcilable void. Aghast in waking, I yawned and a pile of bones were my teeth, when I went to drink the stream turned into salt and liquid copper. A hair pile wrapped me up, consuming me it was growing from the scalp of my three slain sisters. Their eyes were magnetic jewels that laughed when they gleamed, catching the illumination of my despair in their facets. These and more terrors I knew were to come err I continue in this delerious existence.
