It's really quite simple.
By establishing an identity a tripfag opens a tracking account. Most tripfags fail to build up any goodwill by contributing anything. Because they are not distinguishing themselves by merit their name serves no purpose beyond the ego. Over time they do stupid shit and build resentment instead.
Original content and collaboration on this board is minimal. You could translate, provide sources, or provide some other entertainment. Not much opportunity to distinguish one's merits, so tripfags on average are a detriment.

Am I the only one who thinks /jp/ is better during the weekdays during the times of 8am-5pm est?
It seems any other time a bunch of people from /a/, /v/, and /b/ flock in here and the number of tripfags increases.
Not to mention the people who are on here that don't fall into that time seem to think sage bumps down posts.
