It's got a little something for everyone. Hentai doujins, CGDCT, difficult video games, amazing music, great character designs, and a lore that allows for a lot of different stories and interpretations: from edgesokyo to slice of life to comedy to character driven drama to horror to action to mystery. The inherent mysteries in the setting also let's lore nerds to theorize about the specifics as much as they want.

Stuff like love live, idol master, girls und panzer, azur lane, etc. are more cohesive, but that's not a good thing in this case.

Because it's full of idols. Don't watch things like their teenage romcom, high school drama and it's fine. Voice acting have different styles too, live-action dubs is quite different from anime. Likewise acting for a CGDCT is different from a 2DEEP4U anime. Not every seiyuu can handle all styles well.

Yeah I find it hits the nice middling spot ZUN's always gone for in the games. I feel like a lot of the fandom go towards two extremes, like either it leans way too much into the CGDCT, removing any sense of conflict and tooth the characters have. Or they lean too much into edgeho's ignoring a lot of the ultimately lighthearted banter easy going personality the characters tend to make in the games. Flandre is the perfect example of it and in the story so far I feel like they hit the right balance, you get the sense that she's an innocent and naive girl, but at the same time some of the comments she makes lets you realize that she and every youkai have very different views from what humans think.

well i always figured e-girl was specifically related to the stereotypical twitch thot like the hot tub streamers, not all women streamers. vtubers (and some women streamers I assume) are at least entertaining even if you don't want to fuck all of their holes raw, hololive at least captures the CGDCT anime feeling which isn't an inherently sexual attraction like with an e-girl. so shes not even right in the first place.
I know this is basically all a big cope but I think part of the reason vtubing took off is because there *IS* a difference between e-girl and vtuber

Society judges you, based on what's popular in the current day. So naturally you have to act accordingly and hide your interest in something if it's not socially accepted in the mainstream.

Battler is genuinely my favorite MC of all time. I firmly believe that you could put him in any scenario and he'd still be entertaining as fuck. Shounen battle manga Battler, ecchi haremshit Battler, CGDCT femBattler, mecha pilot Battler (would be kino), Isekai with RPG mechanics Battler, sports Battler and of course Mahjong Battler. All of them would be based.

Just remembered I sang OH DESIRE at anime club once. They all hated me because I liked neither shounenshit nor CGDCT. At least I made an effort to socialize back then.
