I think that's going to be our only hope. I was wondering about how an official release would work while I was taking a shit earlier and there might be a major problem. I've only played 2 officially localized vns but both of them installed and played like a normal game. on the other hand muv luv will only work in jap locale. Yeah, Phar got one of his HDD crashed unfortunately, though thankfully that didn't affect his various partial tl'd stuff he got done with yu-no. The same can't be said on the translated part of the third Symphonic Rain sidestory which was indeed lost in the crash.

Unfortunately our new editor is been MIA since May 6 so I can't speak of good news there. We might end up scrapping editing altogether if he won't end up coming back in a few weeks. Shame we get such a terrible luck with editors.

VN translations are not like fansubs. It is extremely rare (well actually I've never heard of a single case) for multiple groups to be translating the same thing. Sometimes, a group will pick up a project after it is dropped (though even that is kind of rare) but you just don't see groups working on the same thing simultaneously. It takes too much effort to translate a VN for people to do that.
