Whenever it's brought up it's more often than not accompanied by suggestions to rewrite the route and add a bunch of fresh content to it. Basically, it's not the actual Fate route that's being asked for, what's actually being suggested is an all-new story where Saber and Shirou end up fucking and some knights show up for cameos.

DEEN's anime isn't even just the Fate route, it merges in shit from UBW and even a bit of HF, because the Fate route is so barebones.

Saber values his opinion more than other because she sees herself in him. This is why his outburst personally hurt her because she thought he might understand and agreed with her wish (You can also see this in UBW when she observed Archer vs Shirou fight). It was a childish anger that she immediately regret when Shirou ran away as you can see the hurt expression on her face. She didn't truly mean what she said.

The game didn't. What is wrong of Shirou is expecting her to stay by his side which he later learned to accept at the end of the route. However, his wish for her to stop pursuing the grail is correct.

I don't think it was being insecure. It's honestly a silly comparison besides similarities in their eyes(there are still significant differences to their powers/usage). Tohno is just a much more fleshed out and well conceived character. Ryougi suffers from Nasu's inexperience you could say and some of the themes of her story were realized better in Tsukihime including how death is portrayed. The eyes feel much more well integrated into the story alongside the nearness to death and dangers they bring about with Tohno. As for popularity, I dunno, I think the super schizo nature of Shiki's character and inversion impulse would trigger the horny something severe. A great balance as we see already with Shiki. I think Ryougi's not even the best character in KnK for what it's worth.
