Youkai eating humans isn't even the worst part of Gensokyo! Because about 5% of men and 20% of women routinely get ABDUCTED or worse, willingly CONSORT with the youkai there is a terribly state of gender imbalance within the human population of Gensokyo!

This drives many a human male in Gensokyo to desperate acts that reduces them to the level of BEASTS! Fairies are the favorite target, because a single human can easily overpower a small fairy, and a small gang can easily overpower the human-sized ones! So what the men resort to is what the consider a vile ironic punishment for the Kappa habit of tearing out the *NUS of their victims! The forcibly penetrate the R*CTUM of their kappa victims! Youkai as they are, this sort of SADISTIC S*DOMY corrupts the souls of men who do it! After they are done with their victim they leave them to dry to slow death on land with PROLAPSED GUTS!

Tengu maidens are another favored target, as the tengu are most hated! The tengu males are exceedingly handsome, POWERFUL and can fly, and many human women WILLINGLY go to the mountains to CONSORT with the tengu! The only reason Gensokyo is not overrun with tengu-human hybrids is that the tengu throw their hybrid offspring off the cliffs for their sadistic amusement!

Humans have however learned to exploit the NARCICISTIC OVERCONFIDENCE of the tengu! A gang of human men can surround a barely pubescent tengu maiden, and the tengu maiden will simply think to herself "NO, I WOULD WIN!" But she can not! Sure, one or two of the men may get injured, but tengu bones break easy and with a SICKENING loud crunch! The fate of these vanquished younglings saddens me greatly, youkai as they may be! Their wings are beaten broken or even cut-off, and their limbs are crushed, preventing escape! Then begins the TERRIBLE CARNAL HUMILIATION! Sometimes the men mercifully kill their victim in the heat of DEVIANT PASSION, but there have been reports of such broken tengu being kept alive for MONTHS, EVEN YEARS before expiring!

And even stranger DEVIANT practices flourish among the desperate, but time or space does not permit me to tell more of such things!

Shit thread made by a faggot so I'm just gonna shill Aya Azuma's most recent work. It has the same dangerous edge of youkai being violent and snobbish but still holding that whimsical bright fantasy tone that makes that balance old fanworks use to have. Also it's portraying Yukari in a kinder mentor role so this kills the grimfag.The 3 chapters that has been released are a nice setup and hopefully the series holds that first impression.

As much as I like all the official manga's and cd lore, I feel like touhou is at its strongest when allowed to be mostly fan interpreted, even with all the flanderization of characters and memes. The more concrete touhou canon becomes, the more the magic of the world is explained away and the less you can put the workings of the world to imagination. And the less people can portray touhou in different perspective and tone from KKHTA to Suwakoto to Kirisame Magic Shop to Zounose (both the old grim and modern self conscious slapstick) without completely breaking multiple characters (which many recent works do now just to spare the effort). Not to say I'm angry with the direction ZUN is taking touhou. There only so many ways you can take a personal work towards to for 25 years before you catch writers block or change your mind with what it really means to you. I do like a lot of the recent characters and I think the animal spirit realm being a hyper industrious society with a modern network frame full of animals is a fun contrast to the technological stasis of what is most of Gensokyo's society of humaniods.

The thread is some Lunarian larp shitpost that went over the head of some anons, but that and OP's verified faggotry aside: I forgot about SPELL, I read the first chapter when an anon dumped it in a thread here and I didn't remember to follow up.
I liked it, it shows that Youkai can be dangerous and threatening (to be fair Roomba was powered up by Remilia) and just how big of a gap there is between Humans and Youkai, and contrasts it with how fairly safe things are now with spellcard rules; where getting an attitude adjustment to curb your ambitions is a rite of passage for newcomers to Gensokyo. The backstory for Reimu where she undergoes a classical hero's development and her relationship with Yukari is cool as well.
I'd say that expansion on lore is a blessing and curse. Expansion means there's more connections and bits of canon to pull from, such as Ran's connection with Toutetsu and the Animal Realm lore; but it also means that things get 'reconned' from a fanon perspective. For example there's lots of doujins about Yukari and Ran's origins which gets pushed from plausible out to pure fanfiction. Even so, I'd say these kinds of far out stories aren't going to die off or go anywhere even after there's new stuff. Creators are still going to write the story they want to tell in Touhou, and there's enough ambiguity and half-truths to do a lot of things and justify it with enough interpretation and mental gymnastics, and that's not going to change no matter how much ZUN adds. Pircrel is always going to be relatable and long standing fanon interpretations and memes aren't going to change much.

No, but three chapters are on Manga dex.
Worth noting is that in the english translation Yukari's spell card "Curse of Dreams and Reallity" is translated as "Spell of Dreams of Reality" due to Azuma and the editor talking to ZUN about how kanji manjinai should he read, and according to them ZUN said manjinai within the context it's used means something closer to charm, spell, or incantation.
Which is notable as ZUN doesn't usually correct translation or reading errors, Flandre's canon english name is still the mistranslated Flandre afterall, same thing for Cirno.
Although personally I think "Charm of Dreams and Reality" sounds best in english.
