I can't remember the exact specifics, but they bought the FanTL and then announced it. And then after doing that they found out the FanTL's quality was extremely bad so they had to completely scrap it and probably lost a lot of money doing so. It's safe to assume they put the project in the backburner afterwards and are working on it at a sluggish pace as to not burn any more money too quickly.
