I actually stopped buying from JAST's storefront when they began stocking shiraVN titles. It's a really shitty feeling to find something that looks like it'd be tons fun only to find out it's published by Shiravune and I'd need to track down multiple patches to unfuck it, if they even exist. Now I just pirate everything which usually contains or links to all the various patches that exist for the title and if I hate the localization or censorship decisions they made it doesn't fucking matter because I didn't pay a dime for it and can thus enjoy it without any risks or obligations. Even for a company like Sol Press who paid shitty rates and only went for deals where they agreed to pay partly in royalties the fees for something like Iroseka racked up to something like $85k

There are countless scenes from Sena's pov where she ponders about this. Her mother, the principal btw. Sona-Nyl was announced at Otakon 2016, roughly 6 months after Kindred Spirits, it just took them forever to get it to market. That said, the marketplace on Steam was quite different when they picked up Sona-Nyl, MG at the time wasn't doing off site R18 patches for their Steam releases and with Kindred Spirits getting onto Steam uncut and selling well "eroge titles that don't need to be cut for Steam standards" would have been quite appealing when they picked it up (of course Steam standards have seen huge changes since).

I'm not sure if DM/DM2 got censored, but NG definitely got censored during the topless aunt scene; her bra feels like it's just pasted away from getty images, heh. Jokes aside, Shibito Magire felt a bit too short, there were only 4 actual spirits (including the final boss) that could be fought and you basically won't lose any encounters since there's no instadeaths like in the first two games. The sidescrolling aspect also seems underdeveloped since no spirits will go out of their way to pursue you, so there's like zero suspense whatsoever, fucking TMHS did it better.
