there is no system to it. they're in the vocabulary realm rather than in that of grammatical expressions. you can't form a noun from just any verb's masu-stem. which is not to say you won't see what looks like lone masu-stems of those verbs, they just won't be nouns in that case - those will be grammar.

It’s important to choose reading material that both interests you and is appropriate for the level you're at. As you get better, gradually increase the difficulty level of the stuff you read (always make sure it's something you want to read though) - this is a good way to start getting exposed to new vocab and grammar. If you start reaching too far above your level you won't be able to understand most of what you read, likewise if you don't gradually increase the difficulty of what you read your growth will start to stagnate.

the ideal content is just *slightly* above your level so that you can comprehend it if you if spend a miniscule amount of time thinking about out it or looking up a word
that's when you make tangible gains
content that's exactly on or below your level is still good to internalize the makeup of the language and build a subconscious model of what sounds correct and what does not which is very useful when you start trying to output, but there's diminishing returns to that
if you can read dies irae with a bit of trying, you're not going to get that much out of hanahira anymore
also enjoyment is extremely important as the other anon said but
1) if you don't like anime/manga/vns/lns what are you even doing here and
2) i think the difficulty of the content is slightly more important at least until you get moderately good
a beginner might be a huge monogatari fan but what does that help if the writing is just so far above their level that they can't comprehend much even with a dictionary

Just an fyi to avoid beginner traps, you hit ok if you remember it at all, its okay to think for a while if you can recall it, but I for one have shit short term memory so its best to repeat it

the beginner trap is to dive into anki core deck as the first thing after learning the kanas,
anki is a memorization tool, not a learning tool, so for me it was way harder just to bash through core deck hoping it would stick
the core decks are really not that great even the improve 2.3k one that choose to go with.

I think there are two ways that can greatly improve the initial learning experience, either go with a radical deck or study, that gets you familiar with most radical meaning (it just helps a lot to able to distinguish parts of a kanji)
and/or stick with babby learning material, text reading or listening and mine the words that you learn so you remember them

yes, misunderstanding is not a problem for learning, because for it to cripple you you'd have to misunderstand the same thing in the same way multiple times, which is very unlikely because the context changes every time.

djt has a unique flavour. i think its because it attracts a special kind of autism learning in a way that requires very little discussion (its a meme but read and listen more is basically 99% of the method) and so any discussion of the method is just a discussion of the media its done in, so places like /a/ or other generals are far better suited. so this place really lacks a topic. its about learning japanese but not really. its new age /b/.

Basically, what will happen is that you will learn rare words and forget them, not all of them but a good amount, if you were doing srs in this case you get the review just as you're expected to forget it, so that you can remember it, if you're watching anime then that's completely random, you might get a review sooner, or later than you need, anything can happen

nobody actually knows the answer to this question because there's not a single conclusive study comparing the effectiveness of immersion and anki wrt language acquisition and no single learner could possibly tell you because there's no way to reset your progress and start from scratch again to compare
all we know is that you can acquire language even without anki so you gotta decide for yourself if you think it's worth doing
my recommendation is that you do anki if you like doing it and it doesn't take up much of your time
as soon as it feels like work or starts to demotivate you or takes so long that it reduces the amount of time you got available to watch and read stuff, cut it out

He finished RRTK

He made Tango N5-N1

and they are also full of holes of even simple stuff on how you say them, cards only have one meaning and they're generally lacking

I think it's meant to be purposefully cryptic, similar to the opening of Kingdom Hearts.
Just based on what was said, the speaker seems to be encountering some kind of inner person that appears to be asking questions to the man. This probably gets explained/referenced later.
Also, some of these lines should be read connected
>純白に耀う真珠に似ていて、純黒とも呼べる、その衝動
>Like a pearl that shimmers in pure white, one may also call that impulse pure black
>自己の深淵に潜む不偏なる者、死と生が、生まれながらに等価値なものだから
>The impartial one who lurks in the depths of oneself, for death and life are equal by nature.
>代弁者
This mouthpiece/spokesperson word is probably referring to the person in question.

As a reading practice, I'm re-reading LN Misfit of Demon King Academy in japanese. As a point of reference, I use an existing fan translation. But I came upon the following sentence:
>"正義という大義名分で、ほんの僅かな罪悪感すら覚えず、殺した人間を英雄とさえ称えている".
Fan TL translated it as:
>"It was a just cause. I do not remember even feeling one bit of guilt. I even praised the humans I killed as heroes."
But I don't see how that makes any sense. From what I understand it should be more something like:
>"In the name of justice, without even a hint of guilt, they unabashedly acclaim as heroes those humans who killed without the slightest sense of remorse."
Is my interpretation more correct? The whole context of the sentence is in the image.

>>45793432
Your interpretation of the sentence is indeed more accurate. The original Japanese sentence:

"正義という大義名分で、ほんの僅かな罪悪感すら覚えず、殺した人間を英雄とさえ称えている"

Literally translates to:

"In the name of justice, without feeling even a slight sense of guilt, [they] are even praising the humans who were killed as heroes."

The sentence structure in Japanese indicates that the speaker is talking about a group of people who, under the guise of justice, do not feel guilt for killing and go as far as to praise the slain individuals as heroes. This can be interpreted as a criticism of those who justify their actions by claiming they are just, without showing remorse for their violent actions, and yet, paradoxically, they honor their victims as heroes.

The fan translation seems to have misconstrued the sentence, as it reverses the subject and object, making it sound like the speaker is the one who killed and praised, which is not the case according to your interpretation and the literal translation of the Japanese text. Your understanding aligns with the typical structure and nuances of the Japanese language, where the subject is often omitted and needs to be inferred from context.

Whites steal from and scoff at us Asians more often than blacks do, just look at the history of Chinese American workers in the late 1800s as well as the reaction to things like SARS, swine flu and most recently COVID-19.
But becoming intolerant and hateful of other ethnic groups that mistreat us is the coward's way out. Humans of any color can be terrible and I'm ashamed to admit that the world has become filled with wickedness and greed and ignorance. But that same world is full of people I've held dear, people I hold dear, and people I will hold dear and their wonderful and familiar souls make this world worthwhile to be in even as rough as it is.

im gonna go to japan and paint my face black, and nobody is going to care because japan isnt a cucked country

>> No.45797988

you cant eat in public or talk on the trains id say they are far beyond cucked

>> No.45798013

if i eat in public or say racial slurs, what are the little japs going to do? glare at me? lmao. its different in the west where saying the word nigger will get people to call the police on you (i saw this happen once), the west is beyond cucked

>> No.45798032

in america theres this thing called free speech saying slurs isnt a crime

>> No.45798180

does japan have free speech?

>> No.45798584

>>45797988
idk that sounds kinda based, nobody wants to see you slopping down a bigmac or listen to shitty nigger music blasted at full volume from phone speakers on the train

>> No.45798621

>>45798584
i said talking not blasting music and you can't eat anything if you're walking in public anywhere even if people aren't around. it sounds based until you eventually break one of the millions of unspoken and get nasty stares
the point is they are cucked because selective restrictions on freedom = no freedom

>> No.45798629

>>45798621
*unspoken rules

>> No.45798657

maybe it's a culture shock for a big stinky american who goes around shouting nigger and spilling big mac juice down his shirt everywhere he goes but i think it sounds pretty reasonable

>> No.45798693

if nobody's around, who's gonna know

>> No.45798742

not immediately around you. you could be cleanly eating a small dry cookie and they would still take offense to it, its dumb

>> No.45798763

Honestly, I hope all voice actors suddenly die and get replaced, I'm tired of hearing the same voice, I've never had this issue with eng voices

i don't know what the dub scene is like nowadays but 10 years ago when i still watched dubs the voice actor pool was even smaller than the jp seiyuu pool and you'd hear the same voices even more

>> No.45798863

>>45798842
I mean western animation, dubs are always as budget as it gets
