i purposefully do the opposite of this. I like Japanese music specifically because I like lyrics but I find them very distracting. I used to listen to a lot of European metal and europop but over time the lyrics became more comprehensible, even stuff like Russian started to be understandable enough. And there has been a huge trend towards English language singing for international audiences. There are still some Finnish metal bands that sing in Finnish but it feels like everywhere else people just feel not singing in English limits their audience harshly, music has become much more global since the 90s and this is one of the major negative consequences imo.

Japanese just doesn't register as language to my ears in the same way, so it has never lost the "I can't understand it well enough for my brain to try processing that stimulus as language/communication, thus distracting me from the task at hand" effect. I still listen to other music but my "I am doing shit, need to drown out everything else" playlists are all purely instrumental or Japanese at this point.

Found this somewhat unique song, the chorus sounds really good with the supporting human vocals, which I believe are also responible for the screaming as well. Really good instrumentals and an unintentionally goofy, but stylish MV. Don't know what genre this would be, my guess is some type of rock, it says vocaloud in the tags though. It has been stuck in my head ever since I found it.

I've also listened to all submissions for Mushoku Toumeisai II and added quite a lot of songs to my list (34 out of the 4800), on average sitting at around a couple thousand views and even this small amount of songs have a lot of different singers featured. I am actually being trained (along with other people) by a bunch of companies for a Java/.NET junior dev position. Hiring isn't 100% sure but I will do my best. I have been an hikki for years and still with all the time in the world and so many possibilities I can't find the motivation to do anything in particular. I probably have something in the schizo 'family' because i have auditory and visual hallucination issues. The auditory hallucinations are the bigger issue with English music, it doesn't necessarily detract from my enjoyment but it does make it a lot harder to focus when there's something whispering to me from the background.

even if your work is mid and you're not happy with it. if you spend time working at it, you'll get better. maybe you'll never be as good as the top tier but look at the guy i linked. he has been grinding at this shit doing his art, his tuning, etc for several years. his views on nicovideo arent any higher than the ones on youtube, cumulative total of sub 4 figures on almost all of his songs but he keeps going and keeps interacting with the couple dozen people who enjoy his work or even those who criticize.

Hmm I think this question is a bit loaded, I do like several utaites as well and have a few utaite covers in my Vocaloid playlists (sacrilege I know). But it's not because their version is "better".

Sometimes, yes, I like how their version sounds more than the Vocaloid version, but it's just a matter of taste. For example I find that Flower songs are 50/50 whether I like or hate her voice, really depends on the tuning. So if I find a nice song where I'm just not into the vocal track, why not just listen to a cover?

But most of the time, I'll just listen to covers as well as the original version. Just like how I might like some Vocaloid covers of other Vocaloid songs, I might like utaite covers too, because they bring something different on their rendition of the song that is interesting enough to listen to. But in a different, not necessarily better sounding way.

I used to kinda dislike utaites and utaite covers just based on their fanbase, it's so goddamn annoying to keep reading comments degrading Vocaloid or calling the originals bad because it's not a real person. In the past couple years or so I've come around on that, some of them are actually talented or even make their own music in addition to Vocaloid covers, I just decided to ignore the cringe fans and enjoy the music for what it is.
