Giga hasn't really been a mosaics vs non-mosaics situation, but rather they haven't wanted R18 content at all, which would not be in line with what Shiravune is looking for Johren. Baldr Sky has an unofficial official patch, and there isn't a Denpasoft version of the Parfait Remake announced right now.

It isn't the first title to do something like that (see the Steam page for the Koikuma fandisc), but it generally would be wise to at least have something that resembles a proper VN for the Steam release. The Nukitashi Steam release lists itself as having 2 hours of content which while still a tiny portion of the full title, isn't going to be too different in length than many (generally OEL) VNs on Steam.

There's no point trying to think a steam alternative will ever pop up. It won't, or rather, it already exists but no one goes there (gog,johren,jast,itch, list goes on)
The solution to the VN localization problem is AI MTL. Simple as. Fund AI to translate VNs, and then play whatever you want. Supporting cartel publisher X or Y with your 20 bucks a year is not the solution (regardless of what store you buy from)

Well if you are not on Steam it should not matter. If you are principaled then you need to understand how the Art Of War works.

Not always, it can help these companies get more money to bring huge porn titles over to their own storefront. For example a JAST or MG storefront is not taking anything from Steam and Steam is not really taking anything from MG or JAST, if anything it helps spread word of their own existence.

As much as i agree, trust me MG and JAST have tried to do things like that and even combined to make a storefront and it did not pan out. The best everyone can hope for is just an easy way to purchase things without making an account on their own home sites even if that means every time they have to enter in their own address and card info. Until that happens i think we will be seeing that happen.

The problem is Steam is an actual gaming marketplace and no other store has competed with Steam on features with modding, community, games and overall cultivating something for the userbase. Steam has no competition other than Epic which is even worse. GOG has come close, but have regressed at times. Hopefully they can turn it around sooner than later.
