Hi anons, I was directed here from >>>/vg/vn/

/g/fag here, working on AI waifu chatbots. Might've heard of it; PygmalionAI. We've been scraping/parsing VN scripts for training data, here's our progress so far: https://rentry.org/vn-training-data

I'd appreciate more scripts to use for the training dataset. The requirements are:

- English language
- Dialogue lines should be preceded by speaker names

Our models haven't been trained on any VNs yet, but that will change once we have a sizable amount. All the currently parsed VNs come up to 200mb, but the rest of our dataset (dialogues from character.ai, RP/ERP forums) are about 40GB or more. We're trying to balance this out by going for at least 1-2GB of VNs and upping the epoch number instead.

Thanks.

Doing Evenicle 2 by themselves was hardly done out of desperation, it was done purely out of self interest but backfired because of the Steam rejection. Evenicle was a large (and unexpected when they licensed it to MG) success on Steam, and they figured they could replicate that success with the sequel without the middleman taking a share of the profits for the sequel until Valve rejected it.

Sure, but without Steam changing their policies, Alicesoft's decision to cut out MG while just taking on the expense of the localization would have been a sound business decision no matter what kind of shape the rest of Alicesoft's business was in considering what Evenicle did on Steam.

Well my point is they are probably in the shit like most VN developers (supposedly). That's why they started a gacha.

That sounds logical until you mention they also tried cutting out 25% of the h-scenes and then removed a bunch of non-h scenes as well AND attempted to rewrite massive amounts of dialogue to be "western appropriate"
It was so far from a sound business decision that it was objectively retarded because it actually cost them customers not just for that product, but all of their future products as well.

I'm 100% sure Rance X being announced early was a MG decision. At the time, there was some controversy that Ys and the Trails series got stolen by NISA, so MG would be motivated to announce Rance X way too early to assure fans that it wouldn't get hijacked by Sakuragame or something silly like that. Everything after that is on Alicesoft's end though. Eve 2 was a pretty disastrous move in particular.
>>43418418
I'm pretty sure part of the reason was because MG had its hands full with the Rance series and didn't exactly have the hands free to do Eve 2. Don't forget that Eve 2 was released after Rance X. That said, they would have had much better luck if they worked with JAST like Ninetail.

>That said, they would have had much better luck if they worked with JAST like Ninetail.
It certainly would have done much better being a Jast project, but it was always going to be below what AliceSoft was expecting with its timeline. The localization would have started during the window when Steam mostly had the floodgates open, and finished at a time when it would have inevitably been banned without drastic cuts and an off Steam patch. If the localization had been delayed for whatever reason to where dealing with Valve regulations is more the norm, it might have got the Nukitashi treatment now to get it onto Steam, but short of that the lack of a Steam release means it always was going to be well below what AliceSoft was looking at after the success of the original on Steam, even if Jast could have helped pumped the off Steam numbers.

Not really, but steam doesn't allow to link patches anymore. Upvoting review with patch link could get your account banned.

>> No.43428059

>>43425397
Valve doesn't review the content of off Steam patches, nor do they access if the release on Steam would be a full original game as released elsewhere, they simply determine if the build submitted to Valve meets their guidelines (although those guidelines can be variable depending on the reviewer, though there is a reasonable argument that they may have been loosen some since the Chaos;Head mess).

>> No.43428070

>>43428059
Bokuten was a thing too. I think it's possible to do something about "placeholder" games.

>> No.43428150

>>43428070
Bokuten isn't related, there were some HCGs in the build submitted to Steam which was later found by Valve that were in violation of Valve's policy. Making a 2 hour game out of other assets isn't a violation of Valve's policies as long as the build submitted to Valve conforms with Valve's policies.

Having a minimum base game also isn't something done solely for keeping content in an off Steam patch, you have releases like Obedient Women being sold by the route, ChuSinGura 46+1 which was sold by the chapter, and Dies irae which has a free base game and sells two sets of routes.

>> No.43428181

>>43428150
>Obedient Women being sold by the route, ChuSinGura 46+1 which was sold by the chapter, and Dies irae which has a free base game and sells two sets of routes
Everything you listed sold on steam, not provided as off-steam patch for free.

>> No.43428316

>>43428181
They would still be in violation of your hypothetical "you can't use a minimum base game" policy just as much as something using an off Steam patch. And both Obedient Women and ChuSinGura 46+1 both launched with very little of the content on Steam, and only added it in months later via DLC.

Either way though, for titles pushing a large portion of their content in an off Steam patch, or titles using a base build with just some content for other reasons, the only relevant question from Valve will be if the build satisfies the requirements for Steam. Even if looking at the amount of content in the Steam build, the Steam builds for stuff like Subahibi or Nukitashi are going to be more content then plenty of other OELVN type stuff that gets published on Steam routinely.
