I played Loopers and wasn't all that impressed with it. It's fine if you want a short story with good production values that goes through all the tropes of your usual Key story, but aside from some mystery at the start and the setting it didn't have anything unique to bring to the formula. The writing itself didn't impress me either, but i haven't read Ryuukishi's other works for comparison.

The brown mom from Omae no Kaa-chan if you want to hear her absolute insane mouth at work. I recommend her other roles with Orcsoft as well. Just note that those three kinetic novels are director based and not writer based, as many people seem to have mistaken. Each of those three Tsui no Stella included were created by their respective directors (conception, story composition, etc.) and writers were hired to realize their vision, so it's not really supposed to be a playground for the writers. That said, Tanaka supposedly helped shaping up the Tsui no Stella world quite a bit especially in details.

With Milk Factory, I played their first release (Isekai) and it somehow managed to put me to sleep so I haven't tried the rest. Hypno/Hollow and Lagoon have the best plot/gameplay. I would probably recommend starting with Hollow and then you can check out Lagoon if you like it. Gaia is also good but it has a different system (it's a more polished version of Abyss). My least favorite was Brave. I haven't played Savior yet but it has the same system as Lagoon so it probably has fun gameplay at the very least. Also all the games have wikis which show you how to get all the events/endings so you can just follow those if you don't want to work it out yourself.

I would recommend Frontier for your first real playthrough. It introduces a lot of concepts used in more 'modern' VenusBlood titles, without being overly obtuse like happens in other titles like Abyss/Gaia/Ragnarok. Frontier also does not have unit bloat, which is imo a problem in some later titles. Corrupting the heroines is very easy and straight forward.

Abyss and Gaia share a very similar combat system revolving around defense, but the other titles use a different kind that revolves around an overworld and clearing stages.

I can vouch for Lagoon. It was my first game in the series and I liked it. Overall a clean unapologetic revenge story, which fits the main appeal of the series. (chaotic evil power fantasy) Tia is in my eyes the gold standard for a heroine corruption story line. Played Savior on release and while the gameplay is good, the story and characters drop the ball. Specifically the chaos route which felt like an afterthought. Lagoon’s chaos route was way more rewarding and memorable.

Couple of things to take note:
-These games fulfill a specific niche, but this also means that they lose their novelty after finishing 1~2 of them. Don't bother with weak entries.
- Gameplay isn't straightforward, but on normal difficulty it's doable if you don't fall for the noobtraps like not using active skills, not upgrading your 'base', using only a limited number of squads, not understanding damage mitigation/redirection.
- One of the only ways you can get fucked over is if you don't have enough law/chaos points when you get to the alignment locks. Your points decide which units you can recruit, directly influencing your strength. If you do need to use a guide for this series, it's probably one that tells you which dialogue options to take to balance law/chaos with affections levels, since focusing on one will lock you out of content, while the other will lock you out of entire tier of units.

In Savior and Lagoon you can change difficulty during the campaign. They also allow you to skip the gameplay, so it's impossible to get stuck. Not sure if other games have similar functions.

Also keep in mind that this assumes people want to read everything. Ultra long games USUALLY do not achieve that. Re-releases with recycled content definitely don't achieve that. (aka Monobeno)

The reason for this to happen is simply math. EGS counts everything. Most people tend to drop games after a few hours if they don't like them. Short enough games may be even finished, because it's short anyway. Otherwise a 5 hour drop for a 10 hour game isn't harming the average as much as it would a 50 hour one.

Has anyone here read Kansen series?

Not exactly my thing in terms of plot, otherwise I'd give it a try.
But I kinda like Sasaki's art and some fetishes included in this series.
So after browsing through CG galleries I noticed how first three games are mostly bad ends with rape/gangrape.
Then 4 started introducing more (what I assume are) post bad end scenes featuring infected heroines fucking MC and participating in gangbangs.
Then 5 introduced even more content like that.
And then BB is basically all about multiple infected girls fucking MC and less gangbangs.

I'm curious, were they just testing different approaches for each game?
Or is it what readers ultimately wanted to see more of?

Mainly the "endings" (basically a list of CG's that you can select after finishing the game) and 覚醒 scenes. They require a certain amount of affection per character. If you only choose dialogue options that give law/chaos points, you might not have enough affection to unlock all scenes. Especially the Harem CG's are tricky to unlock. Specific requirements also vary per game/character so there isn't an easy rule of thumb. It's not that big of a deal for Law routes, since a lot of choices give both character affection + law points, but for games with chaos route endings it can be a bit tricky if you don't know the requirements beforehand.

That said, the original is certainly no masterpiece or anything. It's very much a 90s renai game. There's map movement, a bazillion random choices, a shitload of endings, etc. Overall, I thought it was fine, but if you're looking for like Muv-Luv universe tie-ins or something you're not really going to get it since it predated most of that stuff. It happens very rarely, but I like it when the game has "minor" CGs that are low on detail for the less important characters/events, on top of the standard amount of high detail CGs you usually get for heroines. It helps add a lot visually and narratively.

August's method of making "half-CGs" by placing character sprites against unique backgrounds, or simply by manipulating sprites in creative ways is another great way to spice up a game visually and I wish more studios copied that.
