pay2post makes a fundamentally different community than free2post. On one hand you basically make a hard gatekeep for people who don't actually value the community enough to give it $5/mo or whatever, puts a monetary consequence to just breaking the rules. As a consequence you filter out otherwise OK underage posters or people who can't actually spare the money.

Most of the other negatives like dark habits, scams, even more ban-happy moderation and such has a lot more to do with the particular admins/mods and regular posters in the community than merely having pay2post. SA was never my thing but most people there clearly have different community expectations than somewhere like here, so I have no strong opinion of people who choose to pay for that.

Regardless I can pretty safely say many anons would actually just fuck off if a gatekeep like email registration was required for anonymous posting, yet alone something like payment. It would have to be another site with that expectation from the start.

interesting. I've heard about that kind of meditation, but I don't do it myself. I learned from 'Meditation in Plain English', which was written by a Theravada Buddhist. I mainly try to focus on the sensation of my nostrils as I inhale and exhale; but if a thought comes into my head I momentarily try to perceive the emotion/feeling associated with it, and then go back to my breath. I have occassionally done multiple sessions in a day, but I try to do at least one every day. I do notice that it does help my concentration throughout the day (though I am also interested in becoming 'enlightened' [whatever that means])

like I said I've never done anything like that yet, but I am open to it, partly for this very reason. I imagine that I would probably find unpleasant truths through doing psilocybin or something, but I want to know more truths. first it will contain just an array. write a function to grow the array (1. allocate new array that's twice as big 2. copy content of old array into it)

i do believe there is a point where doing anki has diminishing returns i mean in your native language it isn't like you take an unknown and relatively rare word and grind it, you're just experienced in the language enough to make a mental note of it and encounter it enough times in context to develop meaning in your head

incorrigible is a good example of a word like that actually. i've looked up the definition several times and i always forget it. if i used anki for a few months i'd probably never forget it.
