i think everyone here agrees that godfather is kinda dumb so idk why you'd just the efficacy of a method based off its dumbest users.

but if you wanna talk about success rate your side loses that pretty easily. what's the success rate for posters here? or textbookers and/or redditors? to be fair ajatt and mia select for highly autistic people so that inflates their success rate (which is definitely much higher than 4chan's or anywhere else's).

not him but it depends on how u define success. right now itt there are at the very least 5 people who have achieved their goal of being able to consume whatever they want and im sure there is significantly more than 5 others who have achieved that same goal in the last 5 years and fucked off outta here.

>lmao this thread has ALWAYS been a heap of garbage
That managed to come together as a community at one point and built the single best English language resource for Japanese language learners on the internet. People all around 4chan and the wider internet recommend the op site link to people but they no longer recommend the threads themselves. It wasn't long after the Daily Japanese Thread became full of tripfags, namefags, Reddit drama, 3DPD spam and normalfags that people recommending the op also started recommending to avoid the threads themselves because of how carcinogenic they had become. Protip: you are part of the cancerous growth to have taken this thread.
Even scrolling through the threads once a week for any useful shared mega or google drive links or op website related new content feels like boating over a marsh rendered barren by industrial waste. 12 months ago there was still plenty of life but the last of the contributors and on topic learners have been chased out by retarded vultures such as yourself. If it was always mindless shitposting it would have been baleeted years ago.

don't be autistic about perfectionism. just do a little of everything when you feel like it. reading is probably most important, so make sure to do at least 1 hour daily of shitty light love comedy novels isekai web novels (cause you probably already watched enough of them that you'll get the gist of the plot anyway, lol) with whatever tools you need to actually read along (dictionary, hover on dictionary, googling some grammar shit on the site, whatever). just do what is the most comfortable for you as long as you read a lot of shit daily.

same experience here man. what really matters is input. the "context" you get from remembering a card after flipping to its back and seeing the audio/pic/sentence is laughable. try using sentence cards for some words and see where that gets you.

keep in mind ciaran (thread's best learner, soon dethroned by moe) just used normal vocab cards with no sentence audio or pics.

i all! So, I started studying japanese a few months ago through a paid online course (made by a brazilian folk, because I thought learning such a complex language would be easier if I learned about grammar and more complicated stuff in my native language). To be honest, I think it's well structured and everything: it's got a nice progression, there's plenty of content up until JLPT N2 levels, they offer live classes to help students with doubts about specific topics, sentences to add to my Anki deck (and explanation of particles and words), there are dozens of audios of conversation between two native people and other nice features. It's based on SRS because you gotta have 2 decks on Anki: one for kanji and one for regular sentences (hiragana + furigana). I spent quite a sum on it, BUT (there's always a but eh) I was wondering if it's worth it to move to an online english-japanese course instead (imo content made by english speakers is most of the time much better, in comparison). I'd say I'm an intermediate student, reading longer sentences isn't dreadful anymore, but listening and speaking skills need a huge improvement. Kanji-wise I'm nearing the 200 mark (my ultimate goal is to learn the most used ones in day-to-day life, specially in regards to N2). Basically, I think I'm in the middle of the road.

My question is: is it worth it to move to a top notch course, considering I want to achieve fluency (or at least advanced level) in the next 12 months or so? BY THE WAY, I'd appreciate honest comments and ideas from advanced/fluent/native users only. If you're an intermediate/newbie student, don't comment please. We can only learn from those who have more experience and knowledge than us. Thank you in advance and have a great day!

that's true but a large part of that is recognizing a specific combination of kanji and spacing in that specific sentence. i guarantee that any half decent brain what start making connections to a specific card the second they see the general shape and opening words of the sentence that has nothing to with the actual transmitted meaning of the sentence itself
