The Nizi project (Rainbow Project) is bluntly a copy of produce 101 but for the Japanese market but they do very little to appeal to what makes Japan love jpop and ignore every possible thing Jpop is unique for. Essentially I am claiming this "Nizi project" is just a K-washing factory for young Japanese girls and that's depressing. What makes Jpop loveable is that it has never appealed to wester audience for its sometimes bizzare concepts and unconventional melodies and themes. What makes Jpop unique is that actually what alot of kpop stans call "Korean" is actually Japanese. Your heart fingers, your pen lights, your clothing from the 90s were all borrowed from Japanese idol culture. You are being LIED TO because Korea has always been jealous of Japan's music industry since the damn 1970s!! Not to mention political beef that got a Japanese member of I zone crusified. KOREAN COMPANIES DO NOT CARE ABOUT JAPANESE SOCIETY AND THEIR CULTURE THEY WANT THEIR MONEY. Japan is 2# in the music industry while Korea is 6#...let that sink in... They want that sweet sweet spot as much as anyone does. Japanese was once like Korea, they treated their idols like dog shit because they thought that is what the people wanted, a carbon copy machine never producing failure. But Japan GREW from that. For the actual lineup, this is the best lineup to debut with, though I wouldn't have mind Akari getting in, guess her health issues was a big factor in passing her up. Difference now is that idol groups like 48 and 46 aren't that popular anymore, their fanbases is old wotas now, they aren't getting new fans anymore. It's not a terrible song by any means and quite frankly I don't think people expect much from a jpop act anyway. I just hope they utilize their strengths efficiently, because some of them have potential.

Mako is a phenomenal dancer, even by kpop standards, with the potential to become the #1 dancer in all of Asian corporate pop, and I'm not saying this lightheartedly. She could be THAT great! I mean seriously, her power, work ethic and coordination reminds me of young BoA and that's saying something. One of the very dancers who can convincingly do male choreo. She's totally my bias and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Nina (let's be real) has a huge bonus because she's a damn cute hapa. Button nose, pretty eyes, great teeth and tight body, she has everything. Not sex-goddess like Somi, but perfect for the Jap market. She also has a very powerful voice and good intonation if she wants to. They need to give her the loud parts with attitude.

Rima needs to work hard consistently, because she seems like a slacker. Definitely a spoiled girl. If she WANTS to, she can legit deliver good rap parts.

Miihi is obviously the main attraction for the Japs. She's the perfect jpop idol in- and outside. She can be a very stable singer and her personality will win them all over.

No offense but the rest of the group is pretty much filler material at this point. They can still surprise us of course down the road.

I don't think the debut song later this year will be as equal line distributed if they plan on truly using she's members talents at the thing that they excel at. I wouldn't say this group has much filler since most of the members have actual talent and excel at certain aspects. Nina, Riku, Mihi, Mako and Maya are great to good singers. Rio is a great dancer and can be used for dance breaks, Rima can be used either a singer slash rapper, Mayuka proved herself to be a great rapper, her part impressed people the most who watched the MV. Really only Ayaka is weak at singing and won't do rap, but she was put in to up the visual line in the group.

The only thing that could hold the group back is that Japanese singers tend to sound sameish and nasally which is what this debut song sounded like. Hope the debut Album? will have all sorts of different genres and let the best singers in the group get more lines.
