A new Uchikoshi VN just got announced! "AI: The Somnium Files"
It's a murder-mystery VN with a dream interrogation system described as an updated version of the system in Policenauts.
It also is supposed to have a bigger budget than the Zero Escape series, so expect something actually finished this time. It's already supposed to be fully voiced.

just finished this. I know I haven't read all of steampunk but this is now my favorite among them. The main characters are great and the theme of the game, memories, fits with how it's written, its overall message and its ending. I didn't need much explaining to what was happening because "cracking effect" is already in the previous games. The battles per chapter are less repetitive compared to previous games but repetitive lines are still there on various parts (which ended up ok to me because it's the signature of the author at this point). None of the twists are surprising though. and I didn't like its "minigame".

I'm at the point in CARNIVAL where Risa gets fucked "by Takeshi" while running a school errand and I can't help but notice that this same event was narrated differently in Sinario 2, which had Risa drop a stack of papers either as Manabu appeared, or when he grabbed her. In Sinario 3, Risa is in that room to get the kabuto for the teacher, so the two stories contradict each other for no reason at all.

It's actually going to be the best way to experience the story so that's a good choice. Many of the scenes in the original come off as weird because all of the male characters in the game except for one are unvoiced, including one of the major protagonists. I'm sure that the new version will be an improvement.

Has anyone read "Onii-chan, Kiss no Junbi wa Mada Desu ka?" here? I got a few questions related to the kissing system. I have looked a bit at the japanese guide, but i can't really say that i understand everything.
What happens if i kiss no one? And what happens if i kiss everyone? They seem really offended when i choose to not kiss them.

So everyone seems to be hyping 抜きゲーみたいな島に住んでる貧乳はどうすりゃいいですか？
For months now, and I tried the demo today and it turned being a really enjoyable moege (nukige?)
The art and and the summer feel with the island is refreshing, the character cast is huge and likable, the weird everyday interaction and comedy keeps you engaged.

The game production value is high overall. Can't wait for release in few days.

Finished Miu's route and it was significantly longer than the others so far. Miu is too precious. Definitely should do Shiroha's route before as it directly builds upon and completes it. Very comfy natsuyasumi atmosphere until the Key feels train hit.

When translating with 「」brackets, is the proper method to only use punctuation marks with the closing bracket when they're question or punctuation marks? I've got dialogue that's several sentences within one set of brackets, and it looks off when there are periods following every sentence but the last one.

Reading Tokyo Necro, and [spoilers] starting to feel pretty bad for not picking the "Protect Ilya" choice now, since everything is super fucked up, I picked it knowing that it would probably lead to a bad end, but not like this. I just wanted to not miss out on content, not be trapped in a hell ruled by Hokoyasu with little hope for a good ending. I suppose if I didn't choose to attack Milgram, then he would probably end up being the "final boss" instead, Unless someone else shows up. Also wondering what Echika's go up/down choice does, because that seems way less relevant. Unless selecting to go up makes her die, which I would be okay with.

I'm at the part right after the energy company CEO gets raped by tentacles for the password to the geothermal energy.

The writer didn't get the balance of comedy and serious right. It's kinda the Noratoto thing, just even worse as all routes are affected. If you can get past that, it's fun I guess?
I really felt that the writer messed up the plot just with the concept alone already. In my opinion you really can't use the same themes and/or villains for comedy and serious parts. There needs to be a clear line. Most of this issue is in the routes, but you can kinda see it coming, if you look at Karin's initial behavior in common. First she is handled as if it's serious, and then a switch is flipped and everything about her stuff is looked at like a joke. You can't switch the flip back, if you ask me.

I've been playing this for a while (surprisingly it's not crashing on me), and I've gotta say the game's name (終わりなき夏永遠なる音律) is seriously exactly what you get: IT DOES NOT END. And it feels way longer than it should be as well, which is the biggest problem. It was okay for a while, but at some point all these pointless slice of life arcs where nothing happens anyway are just... ugh. After having the same misunderstanding for the tenth time, you'd think it has to stop. No. No... it never stops.

Luckily you can drop games. Somewhat of a pity, as I would've liked to read a route or two, but whatsoever. Also: The redhead was so utter shit, god dammit.

I had that problem recently with Butterfly Seeker.
What I did was install it in a Windows VM and copy the installation and the things it created into the AppData folder into wine. Install path on Windows and on Wine needs to be the same.
Actually all the installation did was copy the contents of the image directory on the disc to the installation path, copy the image/save directory and ButterflySeeker_inst.xml to Application Data/SilkysPlus/ButterflySeeker in your wine user directory. At the end copied ButterflySeeker_inst.xml gets two lines modified so that it reflects the install path for example like this:

I just finished Humanity. What a good ge that was. >>16733721 's review of it is extremely spot on. I just really wish the writer toned down the comedy because dang was I exhausted by the end of it. At the very least, the comedy was funny enough that I never got bored per se.

If anyone's around who also finished (all five of us in the world), I want to talk about the ending: The ending seems to imply that the entire game was a cold sleep induced dream for some random guy. But the credit sequence shows that Chii-chan was the one keeping the school clean, so it can't all have been a dream. I really don't want to think the writer wrote this whole story with the ending "and all of this happened inside some kid's head" in mind. So was it something real that the kid just happened to dream about? Or what? I gotta admit, I was like "holy shit no way" when the "Wake Up" option appeared, but the ending was so vague about the truth I'm not sure how to feel. Either the ending was the greatest jape of all time or it was a weird cliche that landed poorly.

Putting that aside though, I have to say that Humanity has made me really appreciate all-ages game. The fact that two of the heroine routes in this game have no traces of romance whatsoever is great, I really enjoyed just reading about pure character development and such without any unnecessary moege romance / sex / etc. And I even liked the one romance-filled route way more than many moege in recent memory because it all felt so much more sincere. The romance wasn't born from the writer trying to make a self-insert fantasy for the reader and there was no awkward sex forced in. It was all sincere and very heartwarming. I played Miagete Goran recently and while I greatly enjoyed the romance in that game, the second the characters started dated there was a slew of immediate H-scenes that were just tasteless. I think a lot of time the need for ero really hurts a lot of games.

In conclusion, ero is the cancer killing eroge (not really) and as bizarre as it may sound I'm a lot more interested in reading all-ages romance games now as opposed to 18+ romance games. There's nothing wrong with sex, but I think a lot of romance is corrupted into a sort of porn in eroge, and I would like to read more routes born purely from the writer's desire to tell a good romantic story as opposed to routes with porn stuffed in them. Humanity was really refreshing and I would like to read more things like it.
