Hiroyuki won a court case declaring that 2ch was illegally stolen from him this week. I'd actually thought his lawsuit had gotten lost somewhere ages ago. The world is truly full of surprises.

As for the actual impact, Race Queen preemptively moved 2ch.net to 5ch.net a while back, and even though Hiroyuki always had 2ch.sc I'm not sure how many people actually used it, so assuming he recovers the original 2ch.net it'll be interesting to see where everyone ends up.

For some unknown reason Hiroyuki did not only hand over control of the DNS server to Jim after N.T. Technology had been hired to do credit card processing for 2channel, but also the whole domain. Likely because the nameservers were provided by the domain registrar as well; I don't run my own nameservers either.

As OP said, the domain itself is worthless with nobody visiting it naturally, if the 2channel has been directed to use 5ch for months now.
