Actually, you'd be surprised how many do not have a problem with revealing that they are males, at least from my experince in the Discord (which by mentioning here I have the risk of having the post deleted). Recently a photo appeared on Facebook showing three Animegao Kigurumi with their lids up at a convention.
The responses on the thread were from some very concerned and from others it seems they had a more
cavalier attitude towards this practice.

This is my opinion that I hold true for myself. If others choose to disagree so be it however, this can lead to the
dilution of the character and to the art form itself. That being said I stand with the teachings of Disney mascots
I do not approve of this type of behavior. It can/will create a stereotype about kigs with the general public that can
backfire on the community itself. Here are some examples that come to mind for me.
All Chinese people know Kung fu and own laundromat
All Koreans own a corner store
Indians drive taxis
All Kigs are guys
All furries are gay
And so on. So below are examples of Disney mascot training films from the 60's. Pay close attention to the dialog as it
parallels directly with my beliefs as to how an Animegao Kigurumi should act in public. Performing kig isn't easy, It takes
a ton of commitment, drive and stamina, Not everyone can jump, dance or be on the convention floor for hours at a time.
In the videos they explain what to do in case you need to pop your lid. Simple instructions not always easy to follow yet
being in a public venue a performer needs to hold true to these. Otherwise they are just regular folk in a costume.

Hopefully this will start some of the readers of this to think about just how committed I am to this community. How much I would
like to see it flourish in a positive fashion and not suffer like the furry fandom has over the years.

Again this is my opinion. It is how I think. Others may do as the wish.

Have you seen Touka or Sofa's pics at WF? Touka is 6' iirc and is the same height as pretty much every japanese kigu they took a pic with. Sofa is smol, like 168cm I think, and look even smol near some people.

Japanese males have grown tall lately, especially younger ones. RINS and Sigma are both larger shells than GKO iirc, that's why GKO is increasing the size of his later masks.

Rant over: here's the math. Because I was fucking tall I developed a way to estimate the ideal kigu size kind of thing so I could order my mask (kinda why I avoided GKO when I ordered Haruhi because I knew it'd look bad as he didn't have many shells available in 2013).

You get your height, add 5cm and divide by 6.5. That should give a rough estimate if the mask will look good on your body or not. Any mask that is around 2cm in difference in height will look okay on you if it matches the number the equation did.

Okay: why those numbers?

5cm added to your height is the projected height of your character. When you wear the mask you'll have roughly 5cm of top padding with hair as the final height of the character.

6.5 is the default head-to-body ratio of female anime characters. You wanna keep this proportion or be a bit below it. 6~6.5 is where it should sit to look okay (depends if yer going for loli or something).

This should give you a framework for what maker to pick.

And RTPS makes you look like a bobblehead imo because they oversize a lot. Then again Cici will blame on something something I'm not a maker so what do I know.

Anyway, I'm attaching another pic for you to judge by yourself, some people say I'm a pinhead so I should jump off a bridge, others say I'm fine. Idk, I think I'm okay, just require some posing and angling (but that's like literally every mask and if people are telling you that doesn't, they don't know shit).

ps: my waist and bodyframe kinda pisses me off a bit, i need to lose more weight orz. 10kg less wouldnt hurt.

If anyone is overweight and thinking about doing a chubby character I just want to point out you're still gonna have to loose a significant amount of weight, you need to be smaller than the character then use padding to fix proportions or everythings just gonna look off.
