Also I think that otaku who might be obsessed with "all seiyuu," as in, everyone who ever signed with any agency or voiced Girl B (Anime From Three Years Ago), are much rarer than the people who pick one girl and moon over her.

Most likely someone girl (male) with nothing but a bunch of failed auditions on her CV, hired straight from VA school.

She speaks with a kansai accent, particularly osakan, and according to a certain osakan idol who tried for years to get VA work and failed miserably (Mita Mao from NMB48, who's only role was a support character on the AKB animu they took 48 group-exclusive auditions for), osakan VAs have a harder time landing roles, because of some way the words are stretched or not in standard Tokyo japanese.

What's a "group-exclusive audition"?

Why would the way the words are stretched make being a VA more difficult? It's not like people with the osakan dialect are incomprehensible, right? That still doesn't quite make sense.

>Did you perhaps mean "most likely someone's girl"
I meant "most likely some girl (male) with nothing but (...)". I suppose I wrote "most likely someone with nothing but (...)", but then I went back to memepost and ended up fucking up the grammar.

>What's a "group-exclusive audition"?
An audition exclusive to a particular group of people. Specifically, by "48 group-exclusive audition", I meant an audition exclusive to members of the 48 Group (AKB48, SKE48 and NMB48 back then).

>Why would the way the words are stretched make being a VA more difficult? It's not like people with the osakan dialect are incomprehensible, right? That still doesn't quite make sense.
She was explaining how she tried to be a VA for years and failed miserably, and was poor as fuck, so then she gave up and started trying for variety work and that started paying the bills nicely. And the reason she explained failing so hard, or what she said was explained to her, was that the nuances in pronunciation make it way harder for osakans to land VA gigs. Though of course, not impossible. Kana Ueda is a good example of a very successful osakan VA. But I guess some aspects of their accents that are hard to mask make it so osakan VAs can, overall, only voice very specific, niche characters.

Whenever I pass by a television at a store or restaurant, I get unreasonably uncomfortable. The television anchors' manner of speaking really sets me off, I hate their voices. I recently learned that people like to keep a TV on the entire day, "just for the noise". Frankly, I don't understand how people can live like that. I'm sure I'd go crazy with hearing that garbage every day.

Oh, I see. I think "48-group-exclusive audition" would've made that clearer however I'm unaware of whether or not "48 Group" is already an established term in the lexicon regarding these things so perhaps I'm just too uninformed to really understand the answers I want to my questions.

>was that the nuances in pronunciation make it way harder for osakans to land VA gigs
That doesn't really explain anything. You just restated what you originally said: that osakans speak differently and so they have a harder time getting these jobs. Is that it? Or, do people just not like hearing the osakan accent? Is the osakan accent basically the equivalent of the "Cletus-hillbilly-Southerner" accent for Americans?

>You just restated what you originally said: that osakans speak differently and so they have a harder time getting these jobs
Yes.

>Is the osakan accent basically the equivalent of the "Cletus-hillbilly-Southerner" accent for Americans?
Or what the chav or scottish accents are to britain, sure. Though I guess that NY ball-tugging italian brooklyn accent would be the best analogy for the rugged osakan accent. Tsugaru-ben might be the japanese equivalent to the american deep-southern one, except Tsugaru is up north on Aomori. And mind you, I'm only quoting what Mita Mao said - that osakans have a harder time getting VA gigs because they have some inflections that are hard to mask, so they're a lost case on auditions for the vast majority of roles.

So back to >>17567666, most likely some Osakan VA fresh from VA school and with a myriad of failed auditions on her CV.

>I've now most assuredly asserted myself as an outsider
Long ago. But now that you mention it, I should've just told you to fuck off and never come back from the beginning. So I'll do it now. Fuck off and never come back. You do not belong. I don't know. I remember coming here for music threads. I'd get exposed to new artists so that was wonderful. I like the Boobhu threads for a good fap. I like going through the '80s idol threads, those are really comfortable to me, especially when people start posting posters and pinups from that era. It's the only place in existence where one can actively discuss Elona as well. I kind of like Kizuna AI's content but not enough to go ahead and learn Jap. I like the idea of what's basically an anime character giving live reactions as they play videogames. That's wonderful. I want to see Kizuna AI play Crash Bandicoot. Huh. Someone modified them and got them all fucked up in some strange parts.

I based my translation on the on-screen subs, and it looks like some parts were changed with japanese homonyms that do not match the japanese subs. And some lines were modified, I guess to make them shorter or whatever, without having any regards for the previous or following lines, fucking up the grammar like no tomorrow.

Wonder if it was Shiro herself... but it doesn't make sense, because she knows japanese, and these are the kind of errors someone who has a basic grasp of spoken japanese and fuck all grasp of written japanese would make.

As for what timing involves... it usually involves this >>17576968 , but when I was working on these ones, I noticed it doesn't work perfectly because, unlike your usual show, Shiro's videos are mainly one big scene, and if you match the subs to her voice, you won't match the on-screen subs.

So yeah, what it involves is matching the start and end time of the subtitle file to the on-screen japanese subs. I've never programmed video OCR or whatever though, so I wouldn't be able to automate it. But yeah, it seems feasible. In the meantime though, you do this >>17576968 in a very loose manner, and then use the left and right buttons and ctrl+3 and ctrl+4 to find and snap the line to the hardsubs.

Not even Ai-chan.

And Shiro's Splatoon video wasn't even her playing Splatoon. It was her using one of those free online avatar creators. One for Splatoon squids. She used one for Jojo characters (which was actually pretty popular around here and/or around /a/ a few years ago) in the same video too.

As for the thumbnails, they're good, but there's no great ability needed to make them. If she can use MMD, she can use PS/gimp.

And she might upload daily, but all her videos are around 5 minutes long. Let's exaggerate and say she works 2 hours a day. Even a NEET can muster that. If she doesn't make batches of 10 or 20 in a single day and sits on them to make sure she has something to upload every single day.

Even back when she wasn't a meme, Ai-chan was already shilling the Inside early access and that one crane game you control from your phone. Even if the Inside devs weren't paying her to do it (which would be bullshit), TOREBA is infamous for paying youtubers to shill their shit. I've also seen it in RADIO FISH's channel, for example.

Consider she exploded around march 2017.

Ah, this one counts too. #13 (dec 16, 2016):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9EqgXBbMAc

She's been a shill all along, and it makes sense, because as we know, there's a whole company behind her. But other than innocuous stuff like the Unity Asset Store (which she was more online begging than shilling for) and some free websites, Shiro has shilled pretty much nothing.

What's more. I believe she never intended to do the whole virtual youtuber thing. Her first two videos were her model dancing to some vocaloid, rendered way better than her virtual youtuber videos. Then, over a month later, she released her first virtual youtuber video.

I'm assuming an actual girl was giving MMD a try, liked it enough but her shit wasn't popular so she only released two videos, and then she discovered Ai-chan and grabbed that chance to ride on her coattails by the pussy. And I say this completely liking Shiro, don't get me wrong.

I think you're grossly underestimating the time needed to make each of these videos, desu.

Just the quality of those thumbnails, I've read form someone who actually makes these things as a part-time occupation, it takes ~20 minutes to make a quality one. Further, this is also knowledge I don't expect some random NEET to know.

But okay, let's say, she was able to observe the evolution of Youtube thumbnails (if she was a Westerner, I would give it a thought, but she isn't - and Nico nico is very different from Youtube in this regard), and was able to take notes and learn how to do them, or she was mindful enough to find a tutorial (I certainly would never have even given the thumbnail a thought, if I were to start a YT channel)

The video itself, which is motion captured, I guess (who's paying for this hardware, by the way?), doesn't look like it takes too long to make; same goes for the voice acting. She then adds her own subs in Japanese, I guess. Add in time for editing, to be honest, I'd still give that at least 3 - 4 hours to make even 5 minutes of video (the editing also seems quite clean, one may say "prefessional"), especially if she does make one everyday, instead of doing long recordings, as you say, and sitting on them so she can upload one per day.

In addition to that, she seems to also be quite active on the social media.

- and that is on a good day.

I cannot imagine anyone who isn't being paid by someone to do this would be able to keep to a very tight schedule indeed. -Especially- a NEET

That's what I think, my good anon.

Not to mention they look like your typical 2chan macro from 15 years ago.

Also, any "growing your channel" video will tell you thumbnails are paramount. Pewdiepie himself made one where he said that like last week.

>The video itself, which is motion captured, I guess (who's paying for this hardware, by the way?), doesn't look like it takes too long to make; same goes for the voice acting. You're overstimating it by far. As for the hardware, she just needs a PC, a microphone, a camera (webcam works) and a kinect. Assuming her parents gave her an xbox 360 with kinect a decade ago, or that she got one for cheap on yahoo auctions or whatever, it's all very feasible.

I can understand you overestimating stuff if you've never edited videos, but if you take 4 times more than what the video lasts at that level, seriously, you're nothing but incompetent. And 5 times 5 minutes is under half an hour.

I thought Crash Bandicoot might be fun but I think, when you don't really play platformers, Crash Bandicoot might be too frustrating. Sonic Mania? I don't think the 2D platformers are too bad for someone who doesn't play videogames.

I think it needs to be an action game otherwise it's not fun to watch but at the same time, it can't be too demanding either otherwise, she'll suck too hard at it. She did say that she liked FPS though so maybe some PUBG wouldn't be so bad?

I don't think it'll be that bad.

Look at Alice: Madness Returns. Even if the game turns into another 3D platformer with lock-on combat and slow-motion special effects during the more critical attacks and dodges for the "coolness" factor, the game will still have the beautiful visuals that Momodora is known for. It's just that these will now be beautiful 3D visuals.

Are you aware of Alice: MR and if so, what did you think of it? I think it's worth noting that Alice: MR did have 2D sections as well, in the third chapter and those too were quite pretty.

>> No.17627100

>>17627056
I didn't play Madness Returns. But American McGee's Alice was a 3D action plat from the beginning.

The whole charm of Momodora was not only the beautiful art, but the sidescrolling, metroidvania thing that was executed to perfection. It going 3D is as bad as when Castlevania went 3D.

And Momodora 5 isn't even looking that pretty. It's like Majora's Mask on an emulator that can output HD.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXSaq0rG13I

>> No.17627298

>>17627100
I don't know what happened when Castlevania transitioned to 3D but I do know that Mario had a successful 3D transition, as did Zelda so the fact that Momodora wasn't 3D in the beginning shouldn't affect the quality of its transition.

I agree with you, the game being 2D and pretty was a huge part of its charm. It had the feeling one might feel if they were to read a dusty, old fantasy novel in some abandoned library somewhere or something however, it's also true that exploration was also a huge part of its charm. In the fourth title in the series, we saw the game integrate what were clearly Souls elements (as evidenced by the inclusion of rolling and the passive/active item system). It's been noted that the Souls series is also a sort of metroidvania-type game, it's just that the alternating, spaghetti-like routes are stacked vertically rather than laid out horizontally. The Momodora 2D games were done well because the Metroidvania-type games that came before it had already trailblazed that path. I believe, if Momodora were to transition to 3D, this would be smooth since the Souls series is what has trailblazed Metroidvania-type exploration in a 3D environment.

You pointing out Castlevania's failure to transition to 3D is negated by the fact that Castlevania was venturing down a new road. The Momodora series has only gone down the tried-and-true roads and then stuck pretty visuals onto it.

>> No.17627328

>>17627100
I thought the game looked more like Wind Waker than Majora's Mask, personally. I believe that's the cel shaded art style. By comparison, I don't really know what the intended look was for the Zelda '64 titles but nonetheless, I never found those games pretty. The low-poly count and low texture definition could have its own charm but nonetheless, the games never struck me as pretty. Not like Wind Waker did or even Team Fortress 2.

When you judge the quality of Momodora V's graphics, are you accounting for the shitty video quality?
