She was explaining how she tried to be a VA for years and failed miserably, and was poor as fuck, so then she gave up and started trying for variety work and that started paying the bills nicely. And the reason she explained failing so hard, or what she said was explained to her, was that the nuances in pronunciation make it way harder for osakans to land VA gigs. Though of course, not impossible. Kana Ueda is a good example of a very successful osakan VA. But I guess some aspects of their accents that are hard to mask make it so osakan VAs can, overall, only voice very specific, niche characters.

That's what I did while I was growing up. Now, I don't have a TV anymore, I watch let's plays and other videos instead. It's nice to have them open on my other monitor to glance at whenever it sounds like something interesting is happening.

I grew up without TV, and I'm very thankful to my parents for making the decision to get rid of their cable when I was young. Whenever I pass by a television at a store or restaurant, I get unreasonably uncomfortable. The television anchors' manner of speaking really sets me off, I hate their voices. I recently learned that people like to keep a TV on the entire day, "just for the noise". Frankly, I don't understand how people can live like that. I'm sure I'd go crazy with hearing that garbage every day.

I don't know. I remember coming here for music threads. I'd get exposed to new artists so that was wonderful. I like the Boobhu threads for a good fap. I like going through the '80s idol threads, those are really comfortable to me, especially when people start posting posters and pinups from that era. It's the only place in existence where one can actively discuss Elona as well. I kind of like Kizuna AI's content but not enough to go ahead and learn Jap. I like the idea of what's basically an anime character giving live reactions as they play videogames. That's wonderful. I want to see Kizuna AI play Crash Bandicoot. I'm surprised no one else found this to be the case. I've never come across anything I would deem "bad" in regards to voice-acting in anime. Maybe it's because I'm not Jap but I can't remember a single time I've felt someone delivered a poor or mediocre performance. You're overstimating it by far. As for the hardware, she just needs a PC, a microphone, a camera (webcam works) and a kinect. Assuming her parents gave her an xbox 360 with kinect a decade ago, or that she got one for cheap on yahoo auctions or whatever, it's all very feasible.

Even if the game turns into another 3D platformer with lock-on combat and slow-motion special effects during the more critical attacks and dodges for the "coolness" factor, the game will still have the beautiful visuals that Momodora is known for. Are you aware of Alice: MR and if so, what did you think of it? I think it's worth noting that Alice: MR did have 2D sections as well, in the third chapter and those too were quite pretty.

The whole charm of Momodora was not only the beautiful art, but the sidescrolling, metroidvania thing that was executed to perfection. It going 3D is as bad as when Castlevania went 3D.

I agree with you, the game being 2D and pretty was a huge part of its charm. It had the feeling one might feel if they were to read a dusty, old fantasy novel in some abandoned library somewhere or something however, it's also true that exploration was also a huge part of its charm. In the fourth title in the series, we saw the game integrate what were clearly Souls elements (as evidenced by the inclusion of rolling and the passive/active item system). It's been noted that the Souls series is also a sort of metroidvania-type game, it's just that the alternating, spaghetti-like routes are stacked vertically rather than laid out horizontally. The Momodora 2D games were done well because the Metroidvania-type games that came before it had already trailblazed that path. I believe, if Momodora were to transition to 3D, this would be smooth since the Souls series is what has trailblazed Metroidvania-type exploration in a 3D environment.

You pointing out Castlevania's failure to transition to 3D is negated by the fact that Castlevania was venturing down a new road. The Momodora series has only gone down the tried-and-true roads and then stuck pretty visuals onto it.

I thought the game looked more like Wind Waker than Majora's Mask, personally. I believe that's the cel shaded art style. By comparison, I don't really know what the intended look was for the Zelda '64 titles but nonetheless, I never found those games pretty. The low-poly count and low texture definition could have its own charm but nonetheless, the games never struck me as pretty. Not like Wind Waker did or even Team Fortress 2.
