This thread exists for the purpose of discussing Touhou fan games.

"What constitutes a Touhou fan game?"
Most anything, really, even Touhou based romhacks such as Touhoumon. If it's not thxx.x and it's got touhou then it's probably fine. The fighting games (IaMP, SWR, etc) should go in the main gameplay discussion thread.

My favorite Touhou fan game is picture related, with MegaMari as a close second. What's yours?

Interesting. I've been playing Touhoumon purple recently. Usually I don't like RPGs but I am enjoying it for some reason... sort of. Running around and catching my favorite 2hus is interesting, and seeing how 2hu's abilities translate into pokemon is also interesting. But the romhack is also lazy in that much of the people still say "pokemon" instead of puppets and there are actually pokemon present in the world. At first it wasn't so bad but it is becoming more and more apparent. There's no reason for puppets and 2hus to exist side by side and everytime the game forces me to acknowledge it I enjoy the game less and less. It seems weird because of all the work required for spritework and programming and stuff, but they couldn't change that stuff.

So anyway, what do you like about GoS? Would you recommend it to a person that doesn't usually like RPGs but sometimes does in weird situations(really love the Mario RPG games and thought chrono trigger was alright)?

Tououmon would come in second. Purple is great as long as you don't mind that the focus went entirely into gameplay. Puppet Play 1.8 Enhanced would be better if you do mind.

GoS, lets see. The balance between party members is phenomenal and each fill a unique niche, the game makes you think, no grinding necessary, the sense of character progression is excellent, the game mechanics are very interesting. I could go on I'm sure

Downsides would be that some levels have some pretty obnoxious puzzles. That's about it.

As for recommending it, there's no harm in trying it. Keep in mind that weekend (the re-release w/ expansion) begins on a lower difficulty.

About that. Weekend has easy mode, which you can turn off, but also has increased drop and learn rates, lower crafting costs, nicer respawns, faster leveling, and no penalty for death, none of which you can turn off. Even on normal mode, it's a fair bit easier.

Easy mode is independent from the quality of life changes that GoS:Weekend got, it does come toggled on by default but turning it off is just a matter of going into a menu. The only changes you get on easy are more damage dealt, less damage taken, easier status infliction on enemies and more status resistance on your party.

There is some grinding necessary if you don't switch out your party often.
I dropped the game after I had to use all the characters I've been neglecting on a dungeon even my highest leveled ones had a hard time in.
Think it was underwater.

>> No.15138353

>>15138257
That's why the sooner you realize that you have 12 (or 18 in the expansion) characters for a reason, the more you'll enjoy the game. The party menu is easily accessible because the game wants you to swap characters even in the middle of dungeons in case you run out of MP or whatever; if you don't want to go that far just changing your party every dungeon should be enough to get everyone in level with the game especially on Weekend due to the improved level scaling.

>> No.15140007

That means you failed to capitalize on status effects/Satori's blue mage abilities. The underwater temple represents a unique and appropriate challenge to the form in terms of RPG games. Forcing players to change up thier "Dream Team" needs to happen more often, as it helps players become better able to adapt to strange and unfamiliar playstyles.

I remeber struggeling with that area for weeks, until I made a very simple switch to a small, tight party formation that allowed Reimu to spam her cheap AoE heals and hit everyone, which trivialized the area that squad was charged with clearing.

To be honest I loved the game the whole way through and thought the difficulty was perfect.

But man, don't ever play Rock Maiden, then. That games levels are hard for the wrong reasons. There's a part where there's an enemy offscreen right at the point when you have to jump a pit, and the enemy fires right when they come onscreen, which will hit you and knock you into the pit. Such bullshit. And that's one of many examples.

Marisa is great for this because 20 levels into broom skill you get 3 MP regenned per turn, and you can continuously cast 3mp spells.

Combine that with the Heretic Broom you'll get fairly soon (doubles MP regen), and thats 6mp per turn regen, so all the elemental stardust spells, magic missile, and the lesser beams basically become primary attacks since they cost nothing.

Actually, easy mode is only one of the new things Weekend got.
>It features a heavy rebalancing of the rates for dropped items and Satori's Learning, changes some of the recipes (with the most notable one being the recipe for the Kusanagi, which now only requires 5 Iron as opposed to 30), removes the feature that made you lose all of your "unsaved" items after getting wiped out in a dungeon, and adds a few new things such as a mini-map and an easy mode you can toggle on or off whenever you want. On easy mode, you deal more damage, take less damage, your status effects have a higher chance to work and the experience penalty on killing enemies at a lower level is reduced.
Given the amount of suffering in the earlier versions of the game I don't think I'd go back there, I even recall there being a drop/learn rate patch that someone from /jp/ made before Weekend came out. Can't remember where I got the old version either so I can't help you with your masochism.

Making sure your entire party goes first (without wasting 3 bombs) is amazing for some encounters, the same goes for her skill that ensures someone else goes first. She isn't too great at dealing damage though, but you can use a weapon that can cause death together with her all-targetting spells with a decently high effectiveness.
She's also an amazing evasion tank with some of her exclusive armors, as long as you have a good formation.

Then use Sakuya. Her physical offense is absolutely insane. Double Slash after I used Sakuya's World was hitting for over 2k damage on Eirin, and usually it was hitting at least 600 damage; sometimes hitting 600 even without double slash. Gems increase base stats, so you want to use them on characters that level up really easily, since they tend to have worse overall stats. Or Nitori/Renko, since they have poor stats on account of having Maintenance, which doubles all equipment boosts.

Tomes, conversely, are usually better for characters that level up slowly, since they'll get fewer skill points. And especially for Byakuren, since her skills are really expensive.

Or, y'know, just give them to your favorite girls.

I think the game kinda assumes that if all the characters are usable and mp/bombs are sorta precious, you'd be using everyone you get. That's a pretty common complaint you've got, though, so apparently it didn't work out.
At least lowbies level really fast, so if you screw up you can grind them up quick.

>> No.15218826

I found this useful trick in GoS.

I had never really used Mokou's Xu Fu's Dimension much, thinking that all it did was prevent a death. Turns out I was wrong; very wrong. I actually used it to come up with a strategy that was very nearly capable of beating Kanako and Suwako without using status effects(petrification/instant death) my first try using it.

This requires at least 4 bombs, which Mokou should have by default, and 5 for it to work the best.

The key points of it are:
Cast Xu Fu's Dimension on all party members, doing Mokou last. Since it heals approximately 1/3 of each party member's health each turn, you should start with the weakest and continue until everyone has it. It lasts forever(or at least until that person takes fatal damage)! If you have leftover bombs and someone eventually takes fatal damage, you need simply recast it! I said before you only need 4 bombs. If you have 4 bombs, you don't need to cast it on Mokou. This leads to the next point.

Spam fire spells/raise the fire land level some other way. Mokou can regenerate a respectable amount of health simply by being in land with a high fire level. You should do this regardless of the amount of bombs Mokou has.

Cast some defense buffs; unnecessary for the overall effect this strategy provides, but helpful.

With all that done, you should have a party full of members that regenerate a respectable amount of HP every turn simply by doing nothing, Mokou probably regenerating more than half. Since Mokou is a beefcake that deals with damage well, she becomes nearly invincible with some defensive buffs. Although this requires time to set up, once it's done it's extremely effective.

>> No.15219854

>>15217825
GoS's reasoning is that you can change your party at any time you so wish, even in the middle of a dungeon, so in theory you should be keeping everyone equally leveled and swapping characters out when they're out of MP or something, or at the very least changing your party every dungeon. The game clearly wasn't made for sticking to one party the entire time, as those two stages prove.

>> No.15219866

The only thing you miss from changing your party in the middle of a dungeon in the end is the extra MP from +MP accessories, but that shouldn't be a problem because unless you've horrible at resource management, two parties worth of MP should be enough for any non-extra dungeon. I can see how reassigning your party can be a bother too and I agree with you on the preset party part. At least you don't have to do it all at once, for example Marisa and Patchouli are pretty much interchangeable so you can sub one of them out for the other when they're out of MP.

Stage 9 wasnt bad, 18 was fucking shit in general.

>> No.15232980

I got to the boss of stage 13 in GoS and it just broke me. I basically discovered that it required characters I had been giving no attention to at all and I just lost all motivation to continue. Usually I don't like RPGs and situations like this are the reason why. Going back to create equipment and spend hours grinding just so I can use those characters maybe once or twice again sounds totally unappealing. I'm done.

Don't worry, the game would've stopped you dead at the temple due to your casual ways. Also characters level super fast due to experience scaling for lower level characters. Simply pop them into the commander slot and kill a few enemies to get them up to speed.

I played a pre-weekend version and avoided encounters to the point I got bonus experience from bosses. The only time I ever grinded was to get Mokou Fujiyama Volcano for a the triple boss fight when she was already one of the highest level characters I had and for the final boss as I mucked around the final level way too long failing to get bonus boss drops.

Also I 100%ed Rabi-Ribi(itemwise) and don't recall any glitches at all. The devs also always seemed quick as hell about patching anything and everything including new content so I can't see how it represents much at all of modern gaming.

It would take more than "a few enemies" to get them to the same level as my other characters. At least an hour, which really isn't that long compared to how long some other RPGs have made me grind but I was beginning to tire of the game anyway.

>Also I 100%ed Rabi-Ribi(itemwise) and don't recall any glitches at all. The devs also always seemed quick as hell about patching anything and everything including new content

I played the game a while ago so my memory is fuzzy but I recall a glitch that required half an hour of playing around to get fixed, related to the game screen being cut off from my display.

>so I can't see how it represents much at all of modern gaming.
Did you even read the rest of my post? The glitches are only one aspect. Requiring DRM, the shittyness that is Xinput, the terrible optimization, and the overall experience.

They literally broke it in the final edition! It worked in the stock game.

Also the entry of the game is pretty much grind for a few hours before buying any upgrades as it's much cheaper to go 1->3 than it is to go 1->2->3 for leveling because they're idiots.

And remember there is literally no reason to use the attack button. So MP = Number of attacks and combine that with TP penalty for taking damage you run out of time you can be in dungeon in about three encounters.

It's a game where using a trainer to have infinite TP is the only way to have fun with it.

They don't need to be the same level, if you're only using one party, then the party you do have is most definitely overleveled. Just getting them to like 60-80% of their level should be fine, possibly less. The stats from levels are far less meaningful than the skills and power(characters still not in the party still get 50% which is plenty) allocation of the characters and for equipment just switch on what the characters on your bench are using. The character-specific weapons are far from necessary.

Regarding your other issues, issues using controllers on PC I just consider a PC debugging thing rather than a modern age thing. I just played Rabi-Ribi using keyboard and normally use DS3Tool for games I do use a controller. Terrible Optimization is a thing that has plagued games new and old, it's a thing due to inexperienced coders. I played the game on my several years old laptop and generally it played fine though and I wasn't using optimization mode. Steam is over a decade old now, yes you may hate it, but it's not new and it's not going away.

I just find the use of the term "modern gaming" idiotic as you're just using it as blanket term for the vague lists of everything you hate in games today. Keyword, now, as that's what the modern word is for. It doesn't identify any specific reasons, just that there are problems and a belief that it's the trend of the "modern age" which means jackshit.

18 isn't all that bad once you get your three parties just right, and the multi-party switch puzzle with three parties felt kinda of interesting (although the dungeon was pretty fucking long).
>>15232980
That's why the first thing anyone who recommends playing GoS says is to level everyone up, there's absolutely no reason not to and trying to go with only one party will get you overleveled anyway. I can't remember how much the tutorial books talked about managing multiple parties but I recall the member swap feature being mentioned at least once, possibly on stage 3. If you couldn't enjoy the game because you weren't playing it the way it was meant to be played, there isn't much I can say I guess.
I'm kind of curious about how you got past stage 9 without realizing that you needed to pay attention to all your 12 characters, though. I know that you can clear a part, then leave someone on a button and go to the other part but seeing the entire plat of "oh hey we need to split" should have given you a hint.

Yeah I was gonna suggest something like that. There are definitely issues with the patch, but that line shouldn't be one of them.

Later on with the temperature thing, there's wordwrapping issues there that can't be fixed. The system simply refuses to drop down a new line, and the text doesn't (currently) fit on a single line.

>>15233994
>They literally broke it in the final edition! It worked in the stock game.
Not quite. IIRC evasion would only let you dodge standard attacks but not special attacks, so it only mattered early on. Enemies might've been able to dodge both types; I can't recall for certain.

>Also the entry of the game is pretty much grind for a few hours before buying any upgrades as it's much cheaper to go 1->3 than it is to go 1->2->3
...are you certain? I don't remember anything like that.

> Just look at Alice
If you mean her boss portrait, that's actually a reference to the final boss of Toushin Toshi II. And yes, the game is filled with references to all sorts of stuff. There's even a cookie clicker boss and item in 2.

> It's a game where using a trainer to have infinite TP is the only way to have fun with it.
I personally disagree. I like the TP system. Don't think that you're supposed to explore the entire level in a single dive; you're supposed to map out branches, find dead ends (meaning you don't need to re-trace your steps), discover items, and warp back when necessary. And you find other relay points, shortcuts, etc to let you explore further in next time. Or just get stronger so the enemies don't drain your TP so much.

The alternative method would be if your HP wasn't restored at the end of every battle, and you had to find ways to preserve your HP instead, and stop that from whittling down before boss fights.

>Regarding your other issues, issues using controllers on PC I just consider a PC debugging thing rather than a modern age thing. I just played Rabi-Ribi using keyboard and normally use DS3Tool for games I do use a controller.

My problem with Xinput is that controllers are modeled after Xbox360 controllers and thus, used for Xinput, have a focus on analog sticks and so the Dpad is usually complete and utter shit. You'd might as well go look for a needle in a haystack if you want an Xinput controller with a decent Dpad. Playstation controllers leave something to desired, but at they are acceptable, and if I had to play a game with one I wouldn't complain. Also, controls are rarely remappable. Developers not being able to know what controller a player may be using is actually advantageous for the player because the developer is then forced to create highly customizable and flexible controls; not so with Xinput. Xinput is terrible in many ways and I avoid using it whenever possible.

>Terrible Optimization is a thing that has plagued games new and old, it's a thing due to inexperienced coders.
Sometimes, but more often than not it's because developers are too lazy to make their own game engine/ don't want to learn how to use a knew one. Enter the Gungeon is a great example of this; while a good game in it's own right, it was developed in fucking Unity, and there is no excuse for a game of that graphical caliber being developed in such an engine.

>I just find the use of the term "modern gaming" idiotic as you're just using it as blanket term for the vague lists of everything you hate in games today. Keyword, now, as that's what the modern word is for. It doesn't identify any specific reasons
I've been giving you reasons.

>just that there are problems and a belief that it's the trend of the "modern age" which means jackshit.
The "trend" is there. DRM did not exist before the internet, but video games did. Neither Xinput or DRM are going away, unfortunately. I'm willing to deal with one or the other, but not both. And my complaints are not limited just to Xinput and DRM.

>The present is the fucking present, there were problems in the past, and there will be problems in the future.

I had actually known I was going to have to do it on stage 19 or whatever, but I was just hoping I could cheese my way through it like I did in stage 9. Juggling party members' XP points is annoying and tedious. Xinput is terrible in many ways and I avoid using it whenever possible.

As I've never used Xinput, I honestly can't rebutt much at all to this section due to lack of experience with it. For every 2D platformer I just default to keyboard as I've never been bothered about using the Z/X/C/V buttons for the myriad of Jap games that just use the buttons on the bottom left of the keyboard. Also while it might be advantageous to the player, it's nowhere near advantageous for the developers. On the effort to reward scale, it's usually far more efficient to leave it to the few players who use non-standard controllers to figure their own things out and use broad if flawed systems to save time. If USB allowed PC gaming to commonly and easily use controllers another generation before then the tools would be optimized for XBox controllers and it would be DS2Tool. Also I googled creating a controller input system and the one guide that popped up even recommended Xinput for dealing with controllers.

>it was developed in fucking Unity, and there is no excuse for a game of that graphical caliber being developed in such an engine.
I'm certain the developer has at least one reason/excuse why he used that engine. It could be as simple as it being the only engine he knew how to use to something possibly complex or nefarious. You just don't think any reason he has makes up for the game's optimization. Calling the developer too lazy I think is bit pointed as they put forth the effort to make their game which is not a small task or literally everybody would be creating their dream games. Deciding to start from scratch in a new engine is something no developer wants to have to do in an ongoing project.

>I've been giving you reasons.
Those aren't reasons, they're the problems you list as a result of "modern gaming". Saying a problem is happening in the present clarifies nothing about the problems nor identifies any defining trait besides the fact that the problem is current to the present which every problem is until they're solved.

>The "trend" is there. DRM did not exist before the internet, but video games did. Neither Xinput or DRM are going away, unfortunately. I'm willing to deal with one or the other, but not both. And my complaints are not limited just to Xinput and DRM.
The trend is fucking ancient then. Don't Copy that Floppy is from 1992, anti-piracy and the internet are over 2 decades old now. I remember being a kid and having to enter serial codes and games that only played with the disc. Crackers have existed just as long in response.

However now we've got developers that outright just let people pirate their games and self-pricing. Those are recent modern trends great for the consumer. If a problem doesn't go away that usually just means there's some advantage to dealing with it that outweighs the problem. Steam's successful because it's easy enough for even braindead idiots to use and cheap as fuck to buy games.

>I'd much rather deal with the problems of the past.
And they were the problems of "modern gaming" in the past.

>Juggling party members' XP points is annoying and tedious.
You don't need to worry about that at all, especially in Weekend - the level scaling for EXP works just well enough that if you wap your party around every dungeon, everyone will be around the same level all the time. Even swapping characters in your party shouldn't be a problem either given how there are enough characters to cover most roles in most situations, except for Alice being the ultimate tank I guess.
>If I don't want to use a party member in a situation where I can only use so many at once and there are others I would prefer, why should I be forced to?
I guess that's one of the reasons why the commander spot exists, unless you're in such a dire situation that you need Aya's 3 bombs spell every fight (but, since commander bombs can never be replenished, I don't see how that would ever be the case anyway).

What? The point is that keeping everyone on a close level range isn't tedious at all, as long as you put in the bare minimum of effort. There's no need to grind at all, even if you go blind into the game, if you're adventurous enough or if you enjoy changing parties in RPGs. Hell, I bet you can even survive the entire game with only one party if you keep cycling whoever is in your commander slot.
The only possible dick move by the game is not encouraging the player to change their party often, it simply assumes that people will try different things by themselves and won't completely ignore some characters and then stage 9 happens. Although I have no idea how they could hint the possibility of party swaps later in the game without being too obvious.

The problem here is that you're assuming everyone is actively switching out party members for experimentation half-way through the base game. Most people I'd wager (myself included) with these types of games establish a set team early on and keep to it. Only making changes to rosters as the enemies demand it.

But if you played GoS like that, you'll find that that you'll need to grind out a secondary team for Eientei and then do that twice over for the Underlake Temple.

It wouldn't have been an issue if they had 100% shared EXP with inactive party members. But that still doesn't solve the horrendous equipment and Satori grinding.

Well, yeah, but so does the game - and that's why swapping characters out mid-dungeon is so easy and why you have a commander slot as well. All characters have their own strengths and the game wants you to use them all, and it wants you to burn all your MP in dungeons too so you can get a benched character to burn their MP as well.
By the way, if you still think this is bullshit and want to go through the game with only one party anyway, you should keep in mind that stage 18 has three bosses, one for each of your parties. The final bosses from the main game and the expansion both have three phases, and you have the option of changing to other parties during them, so you're expected to do that unless you want to have a really hard time.
I've seen some people saying that the game should give all 12/17 characters experience, but I don't think that would work without heavily nerfing the experience scaling already present in it which exists exactly to make that easier.

Ah, I had such a wonderful time with GoS outside of surprise tentacle rape induced death

I personally stuck with one team throughout most of the game; partly because of the small challenge it brings for limiting your options, but mostly because I liked using my favorites.

Reimu was the healer and Light spellcaster. Overall saw little action in most fights with enemies lacking a light weakness.
Mokou was my physical sweeper/minor tank. Upping her speed made her VERY capable at going before most last words.
Sakuya was basically like the Hulk of my team: slow and beastly.
Byakuren buffed and debuffed like the fist of the northern star and threw out an occasional attack or two.
I used Marisa or Patchouli to fill in my last slot. Marisa is speedy, but Patchy can really push in the shit of almost any boss.
Overall I didn't really use any other characters except Lithos(I liked her skills and stats) or Satori(Mother. Fucking. Bluemage.).
I also liked how each character had a role in the party, but with a bit of fiddling you can make them play a different role.

Didn't matter how much Instant Death resisting equipment I had on, didn't matter how high I grinded, Yuyuko would just casually OHKO Reimu so I'd get screwed by her final attack or Youmu would pop 200 Yojana in One Slash and wreck half my party or something dumb as shit that I couldn't reasonably do anything about.

There's three, all by Chiyuudou. East Chemblem is based off the old NES games and is pretty bad. Genealogy of Fantasy is based off the more modern games (it even has Pair Up!) but is still bad because holy shit it had some asinine design decisions. The best thing I can say about it is its concept; like the actual Genealogy, it's a two part game. First stars Yukari, the Previous Hakurei Shrine Maiden, and a bunch of "older" characters. Second stars Renko/Maribel and features three separate routes where you either team up with Reimu, team up with the popular final bosses, or flip off both of them and join the Team Of Stage 1-3 Bosses (and also TD/DDC).

Sort of? Second game got a full story and menu translation but all the extra battle quotes and so on didn't.

Third game also got a full story translation but not sure on the status of everything else since it seems like the effort has dropped off.

It has a really high chance to work, but resistances DO affect it.

I've been having a blast with Fushigi no Gensokyo 3 at 2015 and finally beaten the game at the end of that year, but then extra stages happen. The stages past the Chireiden resting place was too much for me to handle, those big enemies have aburd stats and abilities. (example: Kaguyas spells)

After reading the jp wiki I figure that I could handle those with crafting my weapon to the better level from nitori, but I can't even find these materials to craft those ones anywhere(like momiji heaven sword & her level 3,4 shield material).

> Should I play Labyrinth of Touhou 2 on Hard Mode?
If you want. It's really just an anti-grind mode, since it prevents you from grinding forever and stomping bosses, rather than trying to find a real strategy.

The only benefit is that this guarantees you get a boss's bonus drop, since you get those if your average level is below the challenge level, and hard mode stops you from having anyone above the challenge level.

> Should I even play the first one, for that matter?
It's not as pretty, but it's still perfectly good.

Just get cheat engine and give yourself a crapton of exp if you go all the way and beat the final boss of the main game. The postgame content is absurd.

For example, you arrive on the final floor of the PLUS-DISK at around level 300 or something.

Recommended minimum level for facing the final boss is around 550.

How the FUCK do I beat this asshole in Labyrinth of Touhou 2? I've tried a bunch of different party comps but she always ends up too buffed up and kills key members, then I'm reduced to mind taking with solo Parsee until Hina buffs herself enough to even kill her.

>> No.15343363

>>15343327
Post your party.

High debuff resistance is obviously helpful. Don't try to debuff her yourself, obviously. Give +dark resistance items to anyone with good HP, e.g. Komachi.

Beyond that I can't really recall. I'm sure I had trouble with her too, but it's been so long I can't remember what I did. Or even what characters are available at that point in the game.

>> No.15343678

>>15343327
She only uses Fire and Dark attacks. Has a high Mind stat. Doesn't do status effects but will try for stat debuffs.

Gotta be careful when she debuffs herself. She'll immediately switch them from debuffs to buffs and attack. If you get unlucky with one of her hard-hitting party attacks it could be an instant wipe. Parsee or Komachi are solid front-liners. Apparently a properly equipped Rumia makes for a solid pick as well.

This is the party I'm gonna try with now. Just put in Youmu and geared her up, gave her fire resist so hopefully she isn't just a wet tissue this time. I also didn't realize there's a debuff resist stat and I had a few items that increased that, so that should help. I really don't want to grind for levels or materials but I'm sure the fight would be easier if I crafted more FIR/DRK/DBF resist items, I just don't know where to get the mats.

>> No.15344037

>>15343785
Parsee on left is a good choice, I think she's immune to debuffs or maybe i'm thinking of Kogasa. If not use Komachi/Momiji instead.

Replace Rinnosuke with Aya, Youmu, or Kasen.
Replace Reimu with Minoriko, weak to NTR attacks and can also heal.
Equip Dark/Fire resist. Rumia helps because she can raise everybody's dark resist but Hina's mostly weak to physical attacks so might be a wasted spot depending on how much dark resist you need.

I actually just beat her. Managed to protect my hard hitters like Chen, but I think I also got really lucky because when she was under 1/3rd she didn't use the Biorhythm/Curse reversal combo at all. I'm glad this fucking fight is over, though.

Any tips for using Aya? She doesn't seem that effective for me but I think I'm probably not using her to her full potential. Should I be using her for damage in random encounters? Should I stack ATK?

>> No.15344167

>>15344072
She's broken as a turn-manipulator. But that comes later in the game, when you have more MP.

If you can give her enough atk to wipe out enemies in a turn or two (and she should be able to move at least twice before they can), she'll be useful. Otherwise, I'd honestly keep her on the sidelines until later in the game.

>> No.15344327

>>15344072
Good for random fights because she will always go first, and second, sometimes third, and you can use her to wipe out weaker enemies before anything really happens.

Aya + Cirno combo can make it so your party goes multiple times before a boss gets their attack.

>>15345698
You can reuse the stones as much as needed, and you get all 12 at the end of the game.
Once you have all 12 a super stone unlocks where everyone can get a subclass.
Almost everything in the game is reversible, so don't worry about fucking something up forever.

>> No.15349379

>Any tips for using Aya?
I recall her having a skill that makes her always start with a full ATB, another that buffs everyone's speed whenever she gets a turn, and something else that lets her attack again if she kills anything. You'll almost always get two attacks off before enemies can do anything and since default attacks are good enough in this game you won't even need to use her spells too much.
So yeah, give her as much ATK as you can and watch her destroy entire groups of physically weak enemies by slapping them.

I know you already beat her, but I'll give advice anyway. If you inflict a status effect on her, she counters by buffing her self. You can use this to your advantage by doing it right after she debuffs herself, bringing her around to neutral stats. I think that's how it worked anyway, been a while since I fought her.
