Here's something that I could call a quiz.

The other thread about the guy who where so sure that he wanted precisly a Japanese woman as his wife and no other woman got me thinking.

In this picture some are japanese and some are not.
And I wonder, can /jp/ tell the difference?

Guess which of them are Japanese and who aren't.
Bonus points If you can guess where the ones who are not japanese are from. I will post the answers later.

I was in Japan last month with a friend who's Chinese. Everyone mistook him for Japanese. When I told my Japanese friends, they laughed and said Japanese and Chinese people look the same, like American and Canadian people look the same.

Some are really distinct and obviously Chinese/Japanese/Korean etc.

Quite a fair number are ambiguous.

Most people can't tell the difference unless it's between distinct asians, otherwise they're probably stabbing in the dark and hoping for the best.

But yeah, I very much doubt that anyone can tell without fail.

I got that when I met a friend who was working in Nagoya.

The most embarrassing part was that he's the one who could speak Japanese to a decent level, so whenever we had a Japanese person speak to us, it'd be me apologising profusely at first about not being able to speak Japanese and introducing my friend as the one who could actually speak the language.
