Hello and welcome to /jp/! Here's a newbie guide:

-/jp/ was always supposed to be about anything Japanese. Unfortunately, various janitors and /q/ faggots got the rules altered to turn it into their own personal playground. Hence why we have so many "shitposters" who want to talk about other things!

-Talking about anything other than Touhou is very risky. Every day, the janitors throw darts at a dartboard to determine what is on-topic here. Sometimes tea threads are allowed, sometimes they're not. Some days trains are allowed, others they're not. Posting on /jp/ is like walking through Detroit at night. Stay with the group or risk getting banned.

-If you want to post here, first you must determine whether or not you have a dynamic IP. Check out your IP on a whatsmyip site. Reset your router/modem and wait a short while. Check your IP again. If it's the same IP, you might have a static IP, in which case don't even bother posting here. If it's different, you have a dynamic IP. It's important to know how to change your IP in case you accidentally violate one of the esoteric rules, like "posting a light novel that has received an animated adaptation."

-/q/ was created because moot was tired of having his inbox flooded by /jp/sies. /q/ was deleted because moot was tired of having his janitors publicly ridiculed on /q/ by /jp/sies.

-The generally preferred archive is at fuuka.warosu.org. Foolz also has one. Both of these archives sprung up after the old one, easymodo, was taken down.

Enjoy your time here and take it easy!

Why do you assume everyone uses NAT routes? That's absolutely disgusting. Direct dynamic IP to every device is the only way to live.

How does that work, anyway?
I'll have to do some research to make my ``shiteposting'' more efficient.

If your ISP allows you multiple dynamic IP addresses: just disable NAT on your router/modem.
If you get only one IP, static or dynamic: you're fucked, get a better ISP.

I abhor technologies like network address translation. The internet was never meant to work like that. Direct worldwide IP-to-IP connectivity was the idea.

Thank you.
I'll have to look into this further.

>-/jp/ was always supposed to be about anything Japanese.

Only permanewfriends believe this. /jp/ is the Touhou/VN/Idol/Otaku segregation board. It was specifically intended to be the overflow from /a/ so that /a/ would return to being purely anime/manga, in moot's grand Hitlerian vision of purity. You would know this if you hadn't arrived last month.

The only threads that will get you banned are the threads you post, such as "why janny so butt?", or meta threads like this. I've made tons of threads over the years that were never deleted, and they weren't strictly "Why is Remilia so delicious?" Janitor usually doesn't delete or report your thread unless you specifically create it with the intent of pissing on /jp/ or doing something incredibly dumb, like making generic language threads on /jp/ and then acting indignant when people tell you to fuck off to /int/, or asking us what we think about random Japanese political topic when /jp/ isn't about Japan, it's about specific Japanese niche interests.
