Yuria Satomi is my JAV waifu.

Favorites actresses? Yuria Satomi, Hibiki Ootsuki, and Yuu Asakura. I think Rio is probably the most attractive overall, but Yuria and Hibiki have some quality to them that makes me like them more. I just use Adobe Premiere, it's pretty easy, but yeah, it takes time.
For me it's worth it though, because I cut away 80-90% of the videos, and without it, I can't even always tell what I saved this particular video for.
There is probably some degradation of video quality, since there's no such thing as lossless video handling, but since it's all shitty DVD quality to begin with, it's not significant imo.

You could move the video into a MKV container and split then merge it that way. If it's on DVD you'd just have to encode it once and go splitting from there.

Only downside is there's not many GUI editors to make splitting quite easy as well as you couldn't add in additional fade in/out or other effects if you do that currently.

JAVJUNKIES is where I go to see covers (3xplanet also works but I'm a creature of habit and have been using JavJunkies forever), but it sucks not being able to see how many seeders. Also, a lot of new torrents have seeders who limit the download to the 99% mark, while if you go on Sukebei you can see which ones have already been completed.

A notable example is やまぐちりこ Yamaguchi Riko, a former AKB48 Team A idol. She went into AV with her younger sister, who is also hot. They are both retired by now though. IMO her best video is STAR-296, but it might be hard to find by now.

The more usual case is gravure/IV then AV.

I've been looking for a good software solution for this problem for 10 years plus (more specifically, for images and doujinshi archives, but it's pretty much the same scenario). The "best" I could find to this day is still Nepomuk, but it's a) Linux only b) bloated as fuck c) hard coupled with KDE.

Are you me? I've been looking for something like that as well, basically a juiced up booru combined with Honeyview. Been thinking about working on something like that, but whenever I start drafting it up (and realizing how much work it would be), lazy mode kicks in.
There's also "Hydrus network" (Python based), which covers the booru part but is lacking a decent viewer.

For the video thing, I wonder how well a web-based approach would work. Like, converting the videos to webm/mp4 and combining that with a booru'ish framework. Include an information scraper that pulls metadata (tags, actors) from the web databases.

Maybe something that works like a metadata tag system should be created that utilizes a preexisting database. Like how Picard or mp3tag can retrieve from musicbrainz or discogs.

Drag a video into tagger, matches video ID with ID on JavLibrary, and attaches tagnto video. Then a video player/library can be used to filter what you want.

All of the public/exposure JAVs over the past half-decade or so has been all fake shit. Where it's a fake Conbini, a fake train loaded with actors, or a bus loaded with actors. All non-fake stuff is in secluded areas with no one around.

My favorite series by far is プチ裸出, but it was produced quite a long time ago. They actually did everything in public places (real convenience stores, in crowded places like shinjuku station), and always finished on a public train loaded with passengers. I want something like that.
