I do not fully understand why Flandre is kept (and keep herself) locked inside the mansion. It is not healthy for anybody to retreat from the rest of society.

Even back in France, at the beginning of the middle ages, it was clear that patients with fragile psyches benefited from being able to roam free in a safe enviroment.

I find this unlikely.

Most Touhous are polytheistic, like Sanae and some people at the village who worship Kanako (and Suwako). Other pay tribute to the Aki sisters and invite them to their festivals. Reimu half heartedly worships some unnamed god who is displeased with her lack of dedication as well of asking favors from other deities as seen with the magic rocket. The moonwhores also worship a whole pantheon as well.

Byakuren and Toyosatomimi no Miko's crews also follow their respective deities and beliefs.
