Submarines are impossible to kill with most of my fleets. Only light ships can hit them? Or is there something else? I don't get the event expeditions either.

I can't do expeditions at all. They're rank E, shouldn't they be easy?

That's what i don't get, the expeditions don't even fail, they just end and waste your fuel and bullets. I don't know what are you suppose to do.
And yes, i can move foward ignoring the submarines, but i think you must defeat the boss one to unlock the other maps. My only one with decent level that can attack them is Tenryuu.

Just started the game a few days ago but the Rank C Sea Escort Mission will net you 200 ammo and fuel per run, though it takes 1 hr and 30 mins. After a while ammo and fuel really isn't the the thing I worry about. It's the steel. Then again I was trying to build Battleships[and failing] like crazy so that may be a problem.

What map are you on? Once you reach 2-1 it's probably better to look for drops rather that crafting, and save the steel for the hardest ones to get, though i know your feel, i've been trying to get Kaga for a while and lost lots of steel. I also feel that lately the materials are recharging slowly.

Hope it works for you. It really does feel terrible to use that much steel and not get something you want. I think I used that much steel to try and get Kongo or Haruna. Ended up getting Hosho so I was a little peaved.
