My anatomical skills improved really far in the last few weeks but I can't seem to give my characters cute eyes or any sort of nice looking eyes. It's also a little difficult for me to just copy the eyes from other artists works, and it's not that I want to do that.

I think it's the other way around for most people. It's a shame because many of my drawings would look so much nicer if just the faces looked right.

Have you been practicing real eyes along with the rest of anatomy? It'll stop you doing that bar-with-circles-underneath thing if that's what you end up doing. Also help you remember to have part of the iris touching the top or bottom instead of being fully shown and looking creepy.

Otherwise, it shouldn't be that hard to make decent looking eyes on anything. Try drawing them shaped like の の if you can't think of anything else. That and | | type eyes generically work on anything, if lacking a serious look.

There are two layers, one for the rough sketchy blue lines, the other for final outline. As for the neatness- if zoomed in, the final lines aren't as neat as SAI-drawn or vector lines. The lines are brush-drawn, I like it that way.

I didn't work on it much until this summer though. I got a shitload (11k+ lines, went from a loli walking back and fourth to a randomly generated town with AI cars that pathfind around and a bunch of other shit) of work done from May-July though.

Alright, here we go. It's based on Project Diva and the songs are converted using an automated script so most only have "up" beats at the moment.

The controls are WASD and IJKL where for example both "W" and "I" are for up. F for fullscreen (works best in FF).

I can second that. I'm not using Game Maker for Sim Loli, but I've used it in the past, especially for 48 hour game jams and it's pretty decent. You don't have as much freedom as in 'real' languages but it has everything you need (sprite editor, level editor) build it in as well as most subsystems in a game you need (graphics, particles, input, collision detection, etc).

Though the 2nd one could use some work... much too close to the texture on the right wall, or the texture is much too low resolution, and the left wall of the building was made to be viewed only from one angle, it hurts to see it from anywhere but and the shit that would stick out (like the doornob or windows) being painted on is jarringly bad. Especially when right next to it, you actually went ahead and made the windows and shit actually 3d.

oh, and you might want to do something about the AA or lack there of in the first one. that side walk does weird things to my eyes.

I think you have to shade your corners more without exception because a wall is 180 degrees and a corner is 90 degrees at the center. Light also reflects off of surfaces onto other surfaces and into the eye but a flat wall will have more exposure than its corner in almost all cases.

Those are fine for helping work out poses, but they're made of wood so they aren't going to help you understand flesh, muscle etc.

You want to be able to draw soft fleshy 2hus right? Then you have to learn from soft fleshy real people. You need to understand and know curtain key muscles (Ideally all of them) and bones.

Like for example; you want to draw Reimu's armpit, so it helps to know that the actual "pit" is formed by the pectoral coming from across the chest and sort of wrapping round the arm bone and then I think the other side is the deltoid.

Another example is making legs looks delicious by understanding where fat is deposited and the relationship with the hips.

Anyway the point is read books and draw nude figures a lot.

It would be tied into the normal dialogue system sort of, except when a confrontational event path is triggered it would go into a turn-based kidnap-battle using the same (or similar) interface to the rest of the dialogue, except possibly with some other GUI popping up like a healthbar for you or something. The battle would end when either:
a) you win and overpower her
b) she succeeds in fleeing
c) she overpowers you (good job you weak NEET pedo, getting beat by a loli)
d) you flee

The game world would either:
1) pause everything for entire fight
2) keep the game running the entire time
3) pause but advanced X steps for every turn

I'm thinking about 2 or 3, that way you have to worry about her screams alerting others.


Also, if someone else (other lolis, adults, cops) joins in on the fight I'll probably alternate turns between you then all of them, so something like you->loli->cop->parent as a cycle. When another combatant enters the 'fight' I might allow them to ask a question first or something. Like if a cop enters the fight he could say "Stop or I'll shoot" or something, giving you a choice.

I don't know the specifics, like how its handled on the enemy's side. But typically the playable characters started with 7 points of stamina and 1-9 tiers of spells/skills, starting at 1.

The character got 3 types of attacks,
Light with high accuracy, which consumed 1
Medium with medium accuracy, consuming 2
Heavy with low accuracy, consuming 3

And you could do them however many times you liked, like 7 light attacks if you really wanted. However each attack no matter how strong progressed the battle by one tick, and each other character gained one stamina per tick. Like I said I don't know how it worked on the enemy side, but typically you could get off a few hits before one of them attacks unless they catch you by suprise where they always act first(since the monsters were drawn in world and you had to run into them to battle).

Using a spell/skill consumed 7 points of stamina, and could put you in the negatives making you have to wait a couple turns if you did, say.. Two heavy attacks and then used any spell. for -6 stamina.

Also for the spells, for each "tier" of attack that you land, increased the level of spell you could use, so using a heavy attack would let you use up to tier 4 spells, so you could do that and put yourself at -3 stamina.

Anyway thats just my nostalgic rambling about a game not a lot of people seemed to like except me.
