Proposal for a feasibility study of using yukkuris for dangerous material disposal.

Observations of yukkuri biology indicates that they have an astonishing capacity to transform a wide variety of consumed substances into bean paste. In addition, they are known to posses a significant robustness, being able to quickly recover from almost any non-lethal injury. Therefore the author would like to propose an initial study regarding the possible use of yukkuris to neutralise dangerous materials, including the full range of chemical, biological and radiological hazards. Due to the apparent lack of internal morphology of yukkuris, it is also important to study how the administration of the substance to the yukkuri, and it's dispersion through it's body affects both the ability to transform the substances into bean paste, and the rate of transformation. As such, the test subjects should be dived into two groups, group 1 has the substance administered orally (feeding tube) and group 2 gets the substance liquefied and injected directly into the centre. This will determine if oral intake is necessary for the destruction of the administered substance. Both groups are then further dived into subgroup A, which is left as it is, and subgroup B, where a mechanical stirrer is inserted orally and used to throughoutly mix the substance and the bean paste. This determines whether or not dispersing the substance throughout the yukkuri affects the rate of transformation. In either case, the rate of transformation will be measured, either with in-situ sensors, or through small samples taken from the bean paste at proper intervals.

If this study gives a favourable result, one could envision a continuous processing setup where a yukkuri is immobilised with it's face upwards. A mechanical stirrer with a central injection tube is then inserted from above. As the stirrrer rotates, a mixture of corn syrup (for nourishment) and the substance to be destroyed is slowly injected. As the yukkuri is filled, a mixture of the substance, bean paste, and corn syrup will overflow from it's mouth. This will be collected, and injected into a second yukkuri (identical setup), and so on until the levels of the substance to be destroyed in the overflow is below the threshold, at which point it can be used for compost, or re-used as corn syrup substitute.
