Do blind people have nightmares?

>> No.9963354

That is a surprisingly good question.

People who are blind from birth are said to not have dreams with sight.

Those were blinded at some point in their life can still have dreams where they can see.

As for nightmares, it's just in the mind's eye.

I imagine they have dreams that consist of emotions and feelings rather than visuals.

>> No.9963392

Of course. If they can have good dreams, they can have bad dreams too.

/jp/ - Discuss with your fellow /jp/ers what on your mind right now

>> No.9963399

Well I think they feel better about something when they have a lot of context to know where they are, so their dreams are probably like that. So a nightmare would be the opposite, where they have little context of their surrounding, but if they have 0 knowledge of their surrounding, are they dreaming at all then?

Katawa Shoujo taught me everything I needed to know about cripples. I can confidently assert that blind people do not dream in sight, but in sounds.

>> No.9963467

I was reading an article on synesthesia a while back. Apparently there was a blind guy who taught himself to "see" by using echolocation. Upon studying him, they found that he was able to not only differentiate between distances of objects, but also differentiate between size and other information of separate objects.

Apparently whenever he used echolocation, the part of his brain that was used for visual processing was lighting up, despite not being able to see.

The human brain is weird.

Some of my friends from university sent me emails over the past few days but I don't know what to do. I've been a NEET for close to a year, moreover, I haven't even left the house in 3-4 months. Do I just reply and tell them my situation, that I don't leave the house and live on the internet for 15 hours a day. I'm scared /jp/, after this long in isolation things have changed and I don't know what to do.

>> No.9963589

>>9963567
Did you miss the NEET isolation thread?
Regardless I can't help you.
The only advice I can give you is "What do you -want- to do?" This is what you do then.

>> No.9963599

You asked me to do post what was on my mind though.
And yes I can't find the NEET thread.

If anyone remembers the blindmute loli guy on /b/ he said she had dreams a few times. It started some pretty huge flame wars as to whether blind lolis actually have dreams, especially when he said that she dreamt of a red fire hydrant or something.

Don't tell them that. Just say that you are occupied with new projects and that your life has taken a different direction.

I never said post what's on your mind, my comment was aimed at the poster I quoted before and was just a jab at what his interpretation of /jp/ actually translates to.

I also gave you the best advice I could muster up so I don't know what exactly you're complaining about meanie anon.

This is just one of those secrets in life that we will never know.

Blind people by their nature are unable to speak since they're blind and they can't write since they're blind so it's not like we can ask them.
