If by /jp/ users you mean "only me and others who agree with me", then I'll call you crazy. Fact of the matter is, that this is something "/jp/ users" can't agree on. There is no clear consensus, there's always fights about "what belongs in /jp/" with many arguments and no conclusion. This being so, how can it be decided?

At the end of the day, this is moot's board. I'm sure moot will take into consideration the wishes of the users, but ultimately it's his call.

/vg/ exists now. There's no debate. Games like TERA and Mabonogi aren't even Japanese. Call me crazy, but if you're going to post any computer game on /jp/, it should at least be fucking Japanese. Spin "Otaku Culture" however you like, but we don't have K-pop threads "because the Japanese like it". In fact, a K-pop thread was deleted just a couple of hours ago.

As long as games have any similarities to Japanese manga or at least manhwa they can and will attract JP customers, thus, /jp/ and Otaku related regardless of what we think about them.

Super Metroid was crazy good. It had such a great atmosphere for a SNES game, and the music was amazing too.

Did you ever play Other M? Besides simply ruining Metroid in general, it completely fucked up Super Metroid within the first two minutes of the game. It's funny because a few sprites moving around was more emotional and engaging than some high production CGI of the same event.

While I can't give them to much fault for the gameplay, I thought they did a good job at making it so anyone could play the game, even if it removed the metroid exploration of other games. I can definitely say that having that much story and talking was far to jarring, it just completely didn't feel like a Metroid. I just beat Prime 1 two weeks ago and I started up Prime 2 the other day, loving the music and the atmosphere. Moreover, the Prime games have aged extremely well, they still look absolutely fantastic.

You have my point backwards, we're agreeing. I'm saying that, at the very least, it should be Japanese or have Japanese content (for example, there's a StepMania thread, but people are posting Japanese and doujin content such as Touhou simfile packs).
The fact that a game has Japanese players does not make it /jp/-related. The fact that Japanese otaku do something does not make it /jp/-related. Otherwise we'd have StarCraft generals and threads about dealing with bullies at school.

I feel like I got fucked a few years back when I played. Had a pretty decent character that I ranked up a ton of shit with. I was making decent dosh selling my shit from a merchant stall or whatever.. Then I figured, "Might as well reincarnate. My stuff is all slowing down badly."

Apparently, "reincarnate" meant, "Fuck you, how about we remove all the shit that makes the game playable?" No more selling items. No more inventory space... and I lost a bunch of other shit which I can't remember, but at the time, it pissed me off.

I've been playing Mechwarrior Online. It went Open Beta yesterday.

I've purchased myself a Cicada and I'm having a blast, saving up for a new XL engine so I can fit AMS on, more armor, and hopefully change out my 6 small lasers for 6 mediums without suffering too much of a heat problem.

I wish I had more people to play with, though. I usually end up taking out half of the enemy team but dying anyway because my teammates can't figure out their weapon grouping.

It's biggest flaw, I think, is the community. If there's something to exploit, people exploit it, and the people on /vg/ exaggerate this. The upside to this, though, is that players can arrange groups which makes even exploits totally useless.

I actually did log in onto my (aeria)account just before the deadline, but my updater was too slow, so i didn't actually manage to actually log in the game. My AGE acc still exists and i've found out that some people, who appearently hadn't logged into the game for >6 months, managed to get their account/characters transfered by contacting Atlus online support.

This new one has actual permadeath, which is pretty wild. However, the entire playstyle is customized to accommodate for said extremely hazardous play conditions (especially skill up rates). The client for the halloween server is the same files as for normal IPY2 (game install and server patch).

Also, tip for everyone starting out, after you really clear dungeon, you get a rare key, use it to open a rare chest inside. You might get shitty broken items, no idea what to do with those yet, but if you get lucky you get enchanted ones, like a staff that can shoot icicles and freeze along with normal melee.
